''Hurry up, everybody is going to be live in a few minutes,'' shouted the stage manager as multiple people ran in different directions. I glanced at the mirror as the stylist comb over my hair; she glanced at me for my approval, and I instantly made a face of disapproval, and she laughed as she began to flip my hair over. While the stylist was doing my hair, I scrolled through my social media, seeing a lot of people liking the post and making positive comments I made about taking a break, there were a few negative comments, but most were pretty excited about the upcoming live concert. I heard a soft knock on the door, and my heart leaped excitedly.
''Come in'' I shouted . The door opened, revealing Ashley wearing a white dress decorated with rose patterns. She threw her purse on the sofa, slowly walked to the sofa, and slowly sat down on the sofa.
''Hello,'' she said, rubbing her belly absentmindedly. ''Are you excited?'' she asked me, her dark brown eyes twinkling.
''This guy is always excited to perform,'' said Frankie as he sat next to Ashley; he ran his fingers through his dark hair. ''It's best just to shake his hair,'' he told the stylist. Ashley nodded in agreement ''Yeah, he's just run his fingers through it'' she said.
The stylist nodded and ruffled my hair. She glanced at me for my approval, and I just gave her a thumbs up. She smiled as she gathered her things and left the room. I spun my chair to face Ashley and Frankie. I placed my hand on the baby, and warmth instantly grew inside me as I couldn't believe I would soon be a father and a parent. I was so focused on the baby that I was startled when Ashley cleared her throat.
''I think now it's time for us to talk,'' she said, reminding me of the conversation we had
''Cool,'' Frankie said, getting up from the sofa. ''I'll give you guys some privacy,'' heading to the door.
''Well actually'' I said switching to sit on the sofa ''We wanted to talk to you''
''Ok,'' Frankie said, crossing his arms, his face in a neutral expression. ''About what?"
''Well,'' Ashley started glancing at me
I took a deep breath ''Ever since my first album. I live in this world surrounded by people who always want something, whether money or just a handout. However, when I met you, I felt this instant connection, and over time it developed into a deeper bond similar to a brotherhood. As you have taught me many things in life, including to fight for the ones you love,'' I said, glancing at Ashley. ''And since we'll be parents soon, I thought of our child's life. What it's going to be like and in the future I want my child to not only see the world and what it's got to offer but also want my child to be protected by the ones that love loves them the most so.....'' I trailed off
''I guess after Ezra's long-windedness, what's were trying to say is,'' Ashley said, ''Would you be our child godfather?''
I glance at Frankie, who looks shocked for the first time in his life; a couple of seconds ticked by before he cleared his throat.
''Are you sure?'' he whispered ''That I'm right fit for the job?''
I walked over to him and put my arm around his shoulders ''Mate, there is no one else I thought of except you'' I said
''So what do you say?" Ashley said, rubbing her belly
Frankie glanced at me, Ashley, and finally, towards the baby. He let out a deep sigh
''Of course'' he smirked
Ashley clapped her hands in excitement while I hugged Frankie ''Oh my gosh, this calls for a picture'' she said, digging into her purse.
Frankie groaned. ''Please, Ash, no pictures,'' he whined.
''To late the phone is out'' she said holding the phone horizontally ''Now simile''
I placed the biggest simile on my face while Frankie gave the middle finger making me and Ashley laugh together for the first time since our wedding day.
''Alright, everybody, clears the room for Ezra,'' shouted the stage manager as I walked down the long hallway towards the stage. I returned the song list to the stage manager, who handed it off to somebody else. I mumbled a thank you to someone who handed me a guitar. As we walked closer to the stage, I could hear the crowds of people talking among each other excitedly. I stood by the center as the stylist worked and made the last fixes on my outfit.
''You look great'' Ashley said. I glanced at her seeing her dark eyes flash with sadness, worry, and guilt as she looked back at me. She gave me a small smile, noticing the worried expression on my face. She waved me off as I walked towards her and kissed her on the cheek.
''Ezra,'' she whispered ''Are you sure you want to do this?'' she asked
''More than anything.'' I said without hesitation
She nodded in understanding, then gave me a soft kiss on the lips ''For good luck'' she whispered. I smiled and raced to the center of the platform when I heard the song's beginning.
''Love you'' I shouted as the platform began to rise ''Forever and always?'' I heard her asked
''Forever and always'' I shouted back.
The platform rises to the stage, where thousands of people scream when seeing me on the stage. I waved to them as they shouted louder.
''We love you'' one fan shouted
''I love you too'' I shouted back on the microphone ''Hence why I'm doing this''
The crowd erupted in laughter, ''But enough talking. I'm sure you didn't pay all your hard-earned money to see me talk.''
''We don't mind,'' one fan shouted. I chuckled through the mic ''Well, how about we kick this off to where it all started'' I declared
The crowd cheers in response. As the band began to perform a cheery beat
''Because all I want to do is?'' I asked the crowd
''Rock With You'' they shouted back
I smiled in response as the band continue playing the music.
