This summer was so surreal. You had traveled down all the way to the southern coast from the city in the far northeast, just to spend the last days of your grandmother with her.
She was the only guardian you had after your parents passed away. You grew up under them, later moving to the city for pursuing higher education. The city life was way different than back home in your hometown. People didn't hear or care about each other and led a fast pace life with a common aim to be at the top of the social hierarchy. To be part of the 1% who control the rest.
But you found some who wanted to unleash their hidden talents, find their point of existence, and live to the fullest. You knew one of these persons, she was an acquaintance of yours at the workspace.
A bright, cheerful, creative architect and part-time songwriter. She was named Shin Yeoju. The most beautiful mortal you had ever met to date. She always cheered you up and listened to your weirdest fantasies. You had met this fellow human in the junior year of college and never separated since then.
The wind grazed along your skin, making your hair flutter.
You had been sitting on the edge of the cliff for a while now, observing the waves crash against the rock as the water splashes in the air. The sweet yet salty smell of the sea calmed your nerves down. The sunset a little while ago creating a beautiful pastel shade, a mix of pink and orange. It was an eye-pleasing sight. The vibrant glow of crimson and orange gave way to an equally vibrant magenta mixed with the deep blues of the evening skies.
You felt a familiar presence a few steps away from you. It was the same boy you had been seeing the 7th time this week. He arrives a few minutes after the sun sets and leaves when he can see the moon clearly.
The boy's name is Yeosang, you suppose from his employee tag. He has never shared a word nor a single glance. He resembled the Moonlight flowers in your grandmother's backyard which bloom when the sunsets. His honey glazed skin shone beautifully under the colors of the bedazzled sky. He was ethereal like one of those Disney fairytale princes.
You had to talk to him today because,
what If he doesn't come back tomorrow?
You take a deep breath before moving closer to him and faking a cough to get his attention. He whips his head in your direction and you utter a little hello awkwardly doing a hi gesture with your hand. He just nods in response.
"What a jerk." You think about his cold response.
"I haven't seen you before here."
A sweet voice questions you which supposedly belongs to the said boy.
"I moved to the city a few years before for my studies but I've spent my whole childhood in this town. I think you are new here." You answer back in a sarcastic tone with a smile on your face.
"Ah, I see. I moved here earlier this year. I work at a restaurant in the town square. And you miss?" He hums in a calm voice as if your sarcastic tone has no effect on him.
"I'm on my annual vacation right now which was supposed to be spent on a foreign land but here I am watching the sunset on the edge of a cliff with a stranger."
You complain to the deities above but you hear a whine from the boy beside you.
"Miss, how are we even strangers? You told me about your life and I told you about mine. That's basic introduction and we are still strangers? That's not fair." He whines out putting his lips in a pout and arms crossed.
A little laugh slips your lips looking at the boy acting like a 5-year-old.
"I'm sorry. Okay, anyways I'm y/n, mister Yeosang." You introduce yourself later pointing at his name tag when he was confused at how you got to know his name.
"Hi! Y/n. Nice to meet you!" he brings front his hand and you shake it before sharing a moment of laughter.
You both talked for while later about how peaceful life is here rather than in the cities and shared a bit of your daily life, family, and friends, before heading out back to your designated houses.
That was the start of your friendship. It's been a month since the day you both talked for the first time.
They say time changes everything and it surely did. You went on a date today with a mere friend you just met a few weeks ago.
It was a simple hangout but it meant a lot to both of you. He picked you up from your place and the first spot was the seafood restaurant which you loved a lot.
Then you both went to the ice cream parlor and here you are back on the cliff.
The cold wind grazing along your skin sent chills but it was calming.
You look at the person seated beside you. He looked beautiful as usual. The starlight reflected in his eyes making them look so starry. You got lost looking at Yeosang until a cough pulled you out of your trance. You quickly looked in the opposite direction so he won't be able to see your embarrassed face.
"Y/n....."
A faint whisper of your name could be heard.
"I've got something to say," Yeosang says still in a low voice sounding serious on which you turn your head to face him.
There is a little fear in his eyes, his breathing is unstable and the fast heartbeat could be heard since you are sitting beside him.
"y/n...I may not be sure of this feeling in my heart but I think I've fallen for you. And I can say that for sure because it longs for you whenever you are not near me. Your image runs in my mind all day long. Every time I see you, it is magical as if I'm seeing you for the first time." He completes and tries to catch his breath. You are still not able to process what you just heard.
'Yeosang just confessed that he likes you. Don't act dumb and return your feelings.' Your inner voice retorts and you do as told.
"Yeosang, I think I'm experiencing the same feeling because whenever I see you my heartbeat increases at an unusual pace and I can feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. The world around me doesn't matter anymore and all I can see is you, shining like an angel." You mutter out all the words you were able to.
In a matter of seconds, Yeosang leaned in, placed his lips over yours. His soft lips felt so good against yours and you kissed him back. At this moment you regretted biting your lips all the time. You both parted away after some time. It was a sweet, tender kiss that you both would certainly treasure.
You felt a burning sensation on your left hand. There was a moonlight flower tattoo embedded on your wrist which meant you had finally found your soulmate. You look at Yeosang who is complete in awe looking at a similar tattoo on his right wrist.
"Yeosang..." all you could do was whisper his name.
"You are not kidding me are you?" You question him still now able to accept that this sweet being is your designated soul mate.
"I'm confused as you y/n right now. But why moonflower?" Yeosang tilts his head slightly to the left while questioning the mark.
"It's you a moonflower and we only meet after dusk as moonlight flowers bloom after dusk." You speak up at which he slightly nods understanding the meaning behind it.
"No wonder I'm so beautiful," Yeosang says proudly ask you facepalm at his behavior.
"What do I do with you Yeosang-a?" You regret your life decisions for meeting such a narcissist
