A Small Rant

I tensed up, closing my eyes tightly. Why do these kind of things happen to me? I sighed quietly, opening my eyes once again and looking around the store, seeing Spiderman on top of a shelf, staring down at me. I could practically feel what he was thinking.

I already lost someone important. Don't let me lose another one.

I gave him a pleading look, urging him to hurry and do something. I mean, having a gun pressed to your head isn't really a fun thing. Spiderman slowly looked around the store as the man pulled me to a small group of other people being held with guns to their heads.

I bit my bottom lip, noticing a sudden series of web shooting around us, the guns flying away from our heads. I let out a sigh of relief, feeling a web attached to me. I looked down towards it, only to be lifted into the air. I gasped out in surprise, arms going around my waist.

"Are you okay?"

"Just a little shaken up. You need to help the others." I whispered, noticing we were on top of a shelf again.

"The police are here." Peter replied, staring at me through his mask, "Ready to go?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

He copied my action and jumped off the shelf with me still in his arms. I watched him pull his clothes back on over his suit, putting the mask in his pocket, "Let's go."

We quickly walked out of the store, avoiding any police or reporters around. I grabbed Peter's hand, squeezing it gently, "Nothing was going to happen to me." I told him after he was quiet for a few minutes.

"I couldn't be sure about that, though." he stated quietly.

"You were there, Peter. I know you wouldn't let anything happen to me."

"That didn't work out with Gwen, now did it, Madison?" he shot back, pulling his hand from mine, "I lost her when I could have saved her. What if the gun went off when I shot a web at it? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I lost you too."

I sighed and shoved my hands in my North Face pockets, "I know. I'm fine, though."

"You might not have been."

"Stop being a pessimist." I stated in a firm voice, "We both lost Gwen. You're not the only one who lost someone important. I loved her too. She was my best friend. You're not the only one suffering , Peter. Can we just focus on the present and just be happy that I'm okay?"

Peter looked over at me, shock on his face. I didn't mean to rant to him, but it just slipped out. I sighed and looked down, "I'm going home. I'll text you later." I mumbled, turning around and quickly walking the other way.

I suddenly felt something attach to my back again, causing me to look back at Peter, who was holding the web in his hand, "Peter. I want to go home."

"I know, but I'm not letting you leave right after this.. argument. I'm not letting you leave upset." he stated, pulling me to him quickly.

I sighed and laid my head on his chest, his arms instantly wrapping around me, holding me tightly against him, "I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I'm the one that should be sorry."

"We'll just both be sorry." I laughed slightly, pulling back a few inches to look up at his face.

He smiled a closed mouth smile down at me before his face went serious. I raised an eyebrow slightly, wondering what he was thinking. Then, his lips were on mine.
