I slipped my heels on right as the doorbell rang. I bit my bottom lip and looked at myself in the mirror again, studying my white, flowy long sleeve dress and my curls.
"Madison, Peter's here!' I heard my mom call up to me.
I quickly walked out of my room, walking carefully down the stairs. Heels.. making the easiest things hard to do. Once I finally reached the bottom, I looked up at Peter, who was dressed in a nice tux. I smiled at him, seeing him already smiling.
"You look beautiful." he stated as I stepped over to stand beside of him.
"You look pretty great yourself." I told him, "Where are we going?"
"That is the surprise." he smirked, raising an eyebrow.
"You do know this isn't a date, right?" I asked once we told my mom goodbye and stepped away from the front door.
"Yeah, it's a friendly thing, blah blah blah. Still doesn't mean I can't surprise my friend."
"Best friend." I corrected, raising an eyebrow.
Peter just nodded, not meeting my eyes. I blinked and looked ahead of us as we walked down the sidewalk, "So, where are you going to college?" I asked, looking at him again.
He shrugged slightly, "I'm not sure yet. Do you know where you want to go?"
I shook my head and chuckled slightly, "I'm honestly not ready for college."
"We don't have to go straight to college, you know."
"You were going to, though." I said in a quiet voice.
Clearing his throat, he suddenly stopped, "We're here."
I looked over, raising my eyebrows at the restaurant choice, "We're not eating here."
"Why not?" he chuckled, "I already made reservations."
"I don't care. This place is too expensive."
"So, that doesn't matter. C'mon." he smiled, grabbing my hand gently and pulling me into the restaurant.
I looked around at the fancy design of everything. I really do not belong in here.. I heard Peter state his last name before he pulled me with him to a table near the back. I smiled at him as he pulled my chair out for me, "Thank you, kind sir."
"You're very welcome, m'lady." he stated in a rather good British accent.
I laughed quietly and watched him sit down, "You honestly didn't have to bring me to something so..fancy. I would have been fine with just getting pizza."
"I know. I wanted to change it up for once." he smiled at him, his brown eyes shining.
I smiled back and looked down at the menu, my eyes widening at the prices of everything.
"Mads, don't worry about the price." Peter laughed, "I have it taken care of."
I just nodded, reading about the food.
*~*~*~"That was nice." I told Peter as we started walking back to my house, "Thank you for that."
"You're welcome." he smiled, looking down at me.
I looked down at the ground, seeing his hand grab mine and intertwine our fingers slowly. Biting my bottom lip, I looked up at him, "Peter.."
He stayed quiet and stared down at me, "Just go along with it, Maddie."
"Gwen just died. You loved her."
"Not as much as I love you."
I instantly stopped, "What?"
*~*~*~*~*~What?
