Game: Azur Lane
"Huh? Where am I?"
I wake up to see the imaginary world around me... a ice maze itself.
"Am I dreaming?"
It all feels real, as if I was living in the atmosphere.
"Officer."
"Huh?"
I turn around to see where the call came from.
Nobody was on sight, only ice crystals shining from where your body turned.
"Wake up, Officer."
"Eh? Who's calling me?"
"Do you want your alarm smashed to pieces again?"
I close my eyes in terror.
"No! Don't smash my- Huh? I was sleeping?"
"Obviously."
"Oh... Anyways, good morning, Strasser."
"Good afternoon is more like it. You have been sleeping all morning. It is now three o'clock in the afternoon."
"Oh snap, I slept for that long...?!"
"I don't blame you, you have been working non-stop yesterday."
"Well for the past week, work has been such a rush hour... Is it because it's summer time? Or the HQ doesn't want us to have the chance to take breaks?"
"Possibly so. I did see the stacks of paperworks with my own eyes. It does not look pretty."
"Well, I guess more work... more suffering for me."
"Don't say nonsense like that, Officer."
"By the way, did you actually smash my alarm clock?"
"Of course not, I was about to but then it slipped my mind that you've been working hard for some time. So that thing lives to see another day."
"Please don't break anymore of my alarm clocks! I don't want to pay for a new one every time one gets disintegrated by your own hands."
"Maybe wake up early than your clock and then things would be different, Officer."
"I'll never survive trying to get some extra minutes of sleep because of you."
"Do you have a problem with your secretary's waking methods? Hmm~?" Strasser says, staring you down.
"N-no, N-nothing is wrong!"
'O-of course it's wrong!' I say in my head.
"Hm, I see."
I forgot to mention that Strasser has been my secretary for quite a while.
I was told by Weser that she takes her time and schedule seriously and never takes breaks when needed.
So I thought maybe I can learn a few things from her to improve my work ethic.
In return, she could learn about me economically and personally.
I could also teach Strasser on Weser's behalf on how to loosen up.
When we first started working, I was astonished to see how efficient her work ethic was.
It was way more professional than how I usually handle things.
She was a bit disappointed of how sluggish I was, but she was able to teach me her ways on my behalf since I'm the commander.
It was difficult at first since I didn't know how to absorb it all at once.
But after doing it for a few days, I was able to at least get a hang of it.
One day, she gave me a task do the exercise on my own, as she monitors me to the side.
Although it would've took me five hours to finish at least two stacks, I was able to make a new record to finish three stacks of paperwork within two hours without stopping.
She even looked satisfied of my improved results as I do my work in her expectations.
And, I thought she would get tired of me by now....
But no, she stayed patient with me until I learned how to walk on my own two feet, this time more professionally done.
After getting the hang of things, She thought maybe she should give me a 3-part exercise on how long I can keep doing this on schedule without missing a day.
And that's where we are right now: She's going to give me a test today.
Well... supposedly.
She was going to give me the first part of the test this morning.
But when she went to the computer lab, our usual meeting spot, I was there sitting in front of a desk, my head resting on my shoulders, completely knocked out.
But she knew why.
I was working until late at night until early in the morning to finish at least a few stacks of papers.
Which might have took me a few days if I didn't change my work ethic. If it wasn't for Strasser's sessions, I'd probably be lazing around while papers gradually stack, resulting a paper city.
So because she couldn't leave me like that, she carried me back to my room to let me rest.
And now that morning has passed, I'm on my bed, regretting my life decisions like it was the first time in forever.
Aside from that, Strasser is seated next to my bed, looking at me with a serious look in her eyes.
"What am I going to do with you? You can't even handle a day of work if you can't get at least a few sessions in the morning." Strasser sighs.
"I'm not used to waking up a few minutes before my alarm."
"Those are excuses. Anybody can do it if you actually learn to live up to your schedule." Strasser says bluntly.
"Um..."
"But you're telling me you can't learn to wake up a few minutes before your alarm."
"I can't, I'm not a morning bird like you."
"If you can't do it, maybe I'll wake you up myself. Maybe then you won't have an excuse."
"N-no, I-I'll be fine..." I sigh shakily.
I'm shaking because I don't know what she'll do to me when she takes on the task to be my alarm clock.
Even so, it all sounds like a death wish.
Even talking back to my secretary one more time might get me murdered.
"Perhaps I should permanently ban you from using alarm clocks ever again. If I do that, I will destroy every clock you set in front of your bed, exactly from where it stands."
"Wait, wait, wait... W-w-what do you mean by 'destroy them'?"
"I meant shooting it down by using my planes. I'm not kidding when I say it."
"Um, I-I'll be sure to wake up a few minutes before my alarm."
'M-maybe perhaps learning to wake up before my alarm should be on top of my priority list...' I murmur to myself, sweating.
"And be sure to make a few more alarms before your actual time. I was told it helps to make a few more. But not unless you're a deep sleeper who sleeps through all of them. And let's hope you're not one of them. Otherwise, you'll know what will happen, right?"
"Y-yes ma'am."
"Good girl."
'Geez... Although she may be strict with little things like this... I'm proud and happy that she's my secretary and someone I can call a friend.'
"Oh! Also, take a day off today. We'll start the three-part test starting tomorrow morning at eight o'clock sharp. Don't be late."
"Yes, Strasser."
