He was sitting underneath a tree.
He felt relaxed just by laying there.
Him and his friends had dealt with so much Mechon coming from Colony 9 to Colony 6, so they needed a break.
He reminisces of the time when him and his friends used to be at home, peaceful before the tragic events happen.

Shulk:  "Fiora..."

He had a vision of Fiora dying by the Mechon's hands.
He had witnessed the same exact thing a few weeks ago.
And that specific memory is what's haunting him the most.

He knew.
He knew he could've saved her.
But he couldn't...
He wasn't able to.
Even with the visions gifted to him...
He still wasn't able to change the inevitable fate that gave him a chance to change it.
And that's what exactly giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Why is he empowering the Monado?
What made him special to do so?
Why is he more fit to the Monado than Dunban?

???:  "You seem down."

He turns around at the familiar figure.
It's a girl at his age that he didn't speak to after the events.
She was cold as ice, yet that facade had fallen since then.

Shulk: "Y/n..."

Y/n: "What are you doing, sulking at a place like this?"

Shulk: "N-nothing..."

Just like Dunban and Fiora, he knew her as long as he could remember.
She lived all by herself in a complex next to Dunban.
Shulk would sometimes visit her time to time when he was done with his work at the lab.
Sometimes he would visit Fiora.
It was like a rotation.

If he didn't come over, she would know he's at Dunban's place talking to the siblings.
She even would cook a meal for two if he came over to relax.
Maybe four if Dunban and Fiora came over.
Shulk felt he was intruding most of the time, but she let him know that he's a good friend of hers and that he's welcome anytime as long as he wanted to stay.
He felt apologetic most of the time, but she completely relieved him of that since now it has been nine years since they have been continuing this relaxing cycle.

Well, until the Mechon invasion happened.
A few weeks have passed since the tragedy and the fall of Colony 9.

Y/n: "Fiora, isn't it?"

Shulk: "You can always read my mind, can you?"

Y/n: "Of course, I've known you as long as I can remember."

Shulk: "I miss her..."

It was hard.
To let go of a piece that had completely fit into her life.
Her one and only Y/n could call 'best friend' and 'twin sister'... was no longer with her by her side.

Fiora was Y/n's irreplaceable friend.
They would almost hang out with one another at Y/n's complex every single day.
They would continue their strong friendship until Fiora had to go and take care of Dunban from his terrible arthritis from using the Monado.
It was hard for Fiora to take care of him by herself, so Y/n would always give out a second pair of hands whenever Fiora needed them.
Together, they would rotate and take turns of taking care of Dunban, as well as take care of their own responsibilities as well.
The two worked so well even Dunban wondered if they were meant to be sister in arms.

Then, the invasion happened.
Mechon.
The Mechon invaded their hometown.
Fiora fell into their hands.
And now Shulk and Y/n have to live with the same guilt...
Of losing an important friend as they seek revenge on the Mechons to avenge her.
