I busied myself all day that day avoiding the alpha's family like a plague and postponing my talk with my aunt as much as I could.
I was now in my white labcoat, my round had just ended so I decided to dig into alpha James' medical file. His case was weird, it didn't match any of the illnesses that could affect werewolves, even the rarest of them.
Suddenly, my stomach growled, I looked at the clock to find that it was past 7 and I had forgotten myself without any type of food.
Gathering my folders, I turned off the lights of my office and called it a day. I had to spend extra hours at the clinic since working on the case at home was risky. I should move out but knowing my father the idea wouldn't sit well with him, after all, I was still mateless though "weak".
Once home, I took a rapid shower and joined my family for dinner.
"How was your first day, Lili?", asked my mother while arranging a plate for my father.
"It was all I had dreamt about and more. How are your injuries dad? Did they heal already? Do you want me to have a look at them for you?", I diverted the subject since I couldn't tell them exactly how my day went. The pack members were brought to think that Alpha James and Luna Jane were touring the world in a non-ending vacation except for a few chosen ones that I had yet to know their identities.
"-You little show off! What was that? You could've gotten severely injured, but nonetheless, I'm proud of you. Alpha Sarvan contacted me this afternoon to tell me that we will be announcing you as the new head worrior at the yearly pack party this Friday.
-What? This Friday? But we're still in mid July and usually it isn't held until end August."I tuned out to the rest of the conversation. Nothing made sense to me anymore.
Why was he doing all this?
Why was he giving me my father's position if he knew I couldn't shift?
Would he be announcing Annabelle as his luna at the party?Leaving my plate unfinished, I hurried to my room and soon had myself buried in some medical book written by our previous pack doctors to forget about the green-eyed alpha.
The blinding sun of the summer morning woke me up. I didn't realized how I fell asleep the previous night.
"Shit!! I'm late for the training."
It was already 7:30. I got ready as quickly as I could throwing on some random sport bra and a pair of leggings. My "random" sport bra turned out to be red ... just my luck.
The field was already buzzing with pack members from different age groups, but only one stood out. He had the broadest shoulders and the most muscles of them all.
As if feeling me staring at him, his shoulders stiffened before turning around and catching my eyes. Instantly, I felt the familiar pressure of a mindlink forced on my brain.
'Didn't I made myself clear when I told you that you won't be training with the pack ever?
-Yes you did but I need the training if I plan on taking my father's place so soon.
-Fine. You'll be training with me in the afternoon then. Alone.
-But...
-That's final! Now get out of here if you value your pack members' safety because soon my wolf will be set free and I won't be stopping him from killing the unmated worriors for looking at my red riding hood."With that said, my mindlink was closed and I was blocked from responding. The bad alpha in front of me had the sexiest smirk ever stretched on his face while my blood was boiling ready to burst.
From there, I went home and then straight to the clinic taking his threat seriously, not wanting to put anyone's life in danger. Jealousy could blind a normal wolf, how come if that wolf was an alpha.
I visited alpha James, spent with him some quality time and asked him more about some missed details about his case. The day went by fast and it was soon 4 pm.
Following a loud knock, my office door opened to reveal my dream and my nightmare.
Alpha Sarvan stood there in my doorway looking like a Greek God in a body fitted t-shirt and some dark jeans while I was drowning in books behind my desk and having a pen holding my hair up.
"Good afternoon, Doctor", he greeted while inviting himself to sit in the chair at the opposite side of my desk. When he called me doctor, my heart would go crazy as if he was calling me by the most endearing word the writers had ever used.
"To what do I owe this visit?", I replied as if unaffected, avoiding his eyes, staring at the papers in front of me instead.
"-I was checking on my father and thought that I should pass by you to see if you're ready for our training.
-Oh the training... I don't think I'll manage to finish work anytime soon. I'll just have to ask my father to train with me tomorrow morning before the others.
-I. SAID. You'll be training with me from now on, so I'll wait for you to finish, Doctor."Gulping loudly, I fumbled with the books a little more not getting anything done really. His mere presence was distracting me; I could hear him breathing, I could feel his eyes on me and it was stressing me out.
"-Alright, I'll meet you at the field in a few. I need to head home first to change my clothing.
-That's out of question! We're definitely not going to train there for all the pack to see knowing your choice of outfits." He replied not bothering to glance my way.I huffed complaining like a little child. It was getting easy talking to him, it felt like we knew each other since forever.
"I still need to go home though", I told him heading towards the door.
In a flash, he was next to me holding the door open for me and removing the pen that was still holding my hair in a bun. I blinked, looking at him confused.
"-WE'll pass by your house TOGETHER, you're going with me in my car.
-But..."Before I could protest, he was out of the building.
Today, his actions were driving me crazy, he was sending me mixed signals that had my heart riding a rollercoaster.
He was waiting for me in a dark gray tinted Land Rover. I rode with him. No words were exchanged.
Reaching my house, he stayed in the car while I changed into my usual training outfit adding a loose t-shirt to it and hurried out of the house before getting caught.
Obviously, they weren't home yet or else I'd be sitting explaining why the pack's Alpha was being my chauffeur for the day.
Back in the car, the silence was maddening, even the radio was off. I chose to contemplate the scenery instead of making a fool out of myself trying to start a conversation with my so called mate. We were now deep in the forest away from where the other pack members lived.
Was he kidnapping me? ... I wish...
That thought was soon discarded when we came to a stop in front of a lovely wooden house. It wasn't the most elegant or the most extravagant of our pack houses but it was by far the coziest. It was just like I had always imagined my house would be.
I must've took my time admiring the house that I didn't notice when Alpha Sarvan abandoned his seat and opened my door for me to step out.
"I take it you like my humble residence", he affirmed not really asking.
"We'll be training in my backyard both in human and wolf form."
At that, I halted my steps feeling my legs giving away.
The Alpha must've noticed my reaction since he added, without turning around to face me:
"Come on now, I don't have all evening to spend it waiting for you to join me."Oh God... please help me!
