As promised, I was overseeing all the investigations done and the tests run on Alpha James, but a feeling of void never left me. Since our encounter couple of hours ago, Alpha Sarvan didn't show up. I knew for sure that he was worried about me when I was out but now that I was back on my feet again, he was back to giving me the cold shoulder.
"Doctor Hart, I think you need to see this!" , yelled Miranda, one of the lab techs, barging through my door.
I took the paper scanning them quickly and realizing I was right all along; someone had been poisoning our Alpha. All I felt at that moment was pure rage. Flames crippled in my bloodstream threatening to burst out of my veins.
Everything around me went silent for a second and then, all hell broke loose.
Sounds of bones cracking and a cry of agony echoed through the hospital.
I was detached from the reality, sitting there, at the back of of my mind watching as a mere bystander. I saw people rushing through the door and then coming to a halt, taking slow steps backwards, retreating to the safety of the corridor.
My spine gruesomely cracked jolting me back to the reality and making me realize that I was the one letting out those horrifying sounds, and then, everything came downing on me; I was shifting for the 1st time in 6 years.
I needed to get out of here before shifting completely because there was no telling what would be Snow's reaction to feeling surrounded and 'caged'.
Let me give you an insight, trying to walk while your bones were solving the hardest jigsaw yet was a shitty idea.
Pack members were parting, letting me pass, but no one dared to approach.
You may ask yourself why was it taking me an eternity to shift, it should've happened in a fraction of a second, right?
Well WRONG.Your first shift may take you from a minute to a few hours and it would directly reflect your wolf strength.
For me, when I was 13, my first shift lasted 11 fucking hours, so I was signed for a painful long process now.I was a foot away from the top of the stairs when sparks erupted in my whole body. I was being whisked away by the big bad hot alpha. My mate's scent was calming and his touch was soothing making me release a whimper.
"I'm here now. Relax... it won't be long. Just think about having your wolf back, imagine yourself in wolf form running in the forest, the grass tickling your paws..."
"Shhh... I'm here little one." He added caressing my left cheek.
I found myself leaning into his touch, craving the comfort that it brought.
Soon, we were at a clearing in the middle of the forest. Carefully, Alpha Sarvan laid me there on the grass as if he was afraid I might break. In any other situation, I would've snapped at him reminding him that I wasn't made out of porcelain but for now I let it slip.
My mate laid there facing me while his hand kept on soothing the pain. For a moment, I was in trance; I was lost in his green eyes, just like a bird would get lost in the forest but still call it home.
Suddenly I forgot my pain and all I could feel were the tingles assuring me that I was still alive. This might've lasted hours but it was a short lived break for me before I was screaming again, going into my last phase of shifting. At that point, Alpha Sarvan wasn't there anymore, Xavier replaced him nudging me with his snout, urging me to get up.
Standing on all four once again was surreal; my white paws came into view and all of a sudden, fear engulfed me.
