I took my time walking around the pack since I had a few hours to spare before heading to the clinic.

The pack had grown in these past 6 years; new houses were built, stores were opened and we even had our all mall now. Obviously, prosperity was brought in the new alpha's reign. My heart swelled with pride thinking about all the good changes alpha Sarvan had made.

Finally home, I was checked from head to toe by my worried mother. She knew my father well enough to figure he wouldn't be going easy on me. When she saw the claw marks on my arms, which were already half healed, she gasped and started cursing.

"Your mate had it worse, it's him you should be worrying about", I told her while laughing and skipping to my room like a 5 year-old toddler.

Since I had time, I decided to take a soothing bath. My mind was replaying my encounter with the alpha and I found myself blushing at times and angry at others. His reaction today at the field confirmed that, he too, was feeling the pull.

Would he reject me though when he knows I was left without my wolf?

He needed a strong luna to lead by his side not some damsel in distress in need of saving.

Deciding on averting my thoughts from the subject, I headed earlier than planned to the clinic. It was still 10:30 but I was already bubbling with excitement.

Oh! I forgot to tell you that the current pack doctor was my aunt, my father's sister. After she'd lost her mate to a rare disease early in their relationship, she sacrificed her life to serve his cause. She had never attended medical school, actually, none of the previous pack doctors ever had. They used to be self-taught and teach one another what our ancestors had left for us to learn from.

Our pack clinic was just like your typical hospital but since werewolves rarely got sick we didn't need as much space. The clinic had 20 beds including 2 that were on a separate floor reserved for the Alpha's family.

"Lili!! Honey! I've missed you around here", said my aunt Jasmine while giving me a quick hug.

"Let's leave our chitchat for later okay. I'm actually glad you're here early, there's something you need to know before we start", she said in a more serious tone while guiding me to the second floor.

"What you'll be seeing inside will never leave the walls of this room. I know you won't tell anyone but it's my job to warn you."

I nodded to her before opening the door. I tried my best to hide my shock when I saw Alpha James lying on the hospital bed and next to him sat luna Jane on a chair holding his hand.

"Good morning. Look who I brought with me today!", greeted my aunt.

Just when the alpha's eyes settled on me he opened his arms for me and that was all I needed to run into his arms and hug him back. He always had my back when my father didn't. He was family to me.

"I missed you young lady! Although I should be mad at you right? I didn't hear from you for 6 years, is this fair?"

I lifted my head to look at him and said:
"-I'm sorry alpha, I needed to cut all ties with the pack back then, things happened.
-It's uncle James to you, you already know that and you don't have to tell me anything now. I'll wait for you when you're ready."

After giving him another hug, I went around the bed to hug luna Jane. So much for hating hugs, you must think, but they were always an exception.

"Hello Luna, you look radiant as usual."

Her face had always a soft glow paired with a pair of familiar green eyes had her look like an angel.

After a few minutes of chatting, my aunt urged the alphas to tell me what was happening.

Luna Jane sighed loudly and started telling me how it had all begun.

Apparently, uncle James experienced a progressive severe fatigue several months after my departure 6 years ago. He decided then to hand the alpha position to his son Sarvan so he could have a well deserved rest, thinking it was due to his long hours of work. Beside his role of being the leader of Crimson pack, Alpha James was the CEO and a Co-owner of a buisness company in the human world. After 1 month of resting, his symptoms hadn't subsided, they had aggravated and soon, he found himself lacking energy to get out of the bed. My aunt tried to do everything she could but I was their only hope since they couldn't risk bringing a human doctor to the pack and compromising our identity.

"Ok, so I plan on studying your folder and start my own workup. We don't want to miss out on any detail that can guide the diagnosis."

I was asking him further questions when a knock was heard and in came Alpha Sarvan.

Stupid me! Of course he would be there, that was his father after all.

I avoided looking at him not wanting to embarrass my self in front of the alpha family united. Feeling my uneasiness, my aunt stood up first motioning to me to follow suit.

"If you may excuse us Alpha, Lili and I will be continuing our round."

I followed my aunt looking only at her back but I could still see the outline of a black suit just inches to my left and that was more than enough to send my heart to its doom.

Once in the corridor, I sighed feeling the pressure around me disappear. My aunt had her arm crossed clearly waiting for an explanation.

"I promise I'll tell you everything in time, but for now, let's get as far as we can from here."

Not a second after I uttered those words, I heard the door closing behind us.

Please God let it be Luna Jane.

"Mrs. Jasmine, I need a moment with Miss Hart here. She'll be joining you shortly", boomed Alpha Sarvan's voice from behind me.

My aunt was quick to disappear and I didn't dare turn to look at the still approaching alpha. I felt like a prey about to be hunted by a big bad wolf. Suddenly, Alpha Sarvan came to stop directly behind me, his body heat radiating from him and his breath tickling my neck.

"Why does it seem like you're avoiding me, Doctor? Hmmm?" He said coming even closer if possible.

"Do I make you uncomfortable?", he snake his hands aroud my waist.

"Are you trying to complete what you've started 6 years ago?", he span me so I was now facing him, his face dangerously close to mine.

"Are you going to reject me, mate?"

My breath hitched, my heart was a beating mess, my hands were sweaty and all I could do was look deep in his eyes and lose myself in them. He was angry at me but I felt the safest in his arms, like nothing and nobody in the world could even lay a finger on me while he was near me.

"Answer me..." his voice sent chills throughout my body.

Mastering all the courage I had in me, I voiced what had been going in my mind since the first day I saw him.

"Wouldn't choosing another girl to be your mate severe our original bond? I'm not your mate anymore, Annabelle is", my voice cracked a little. Clearing my throat I continued:
"It's not my place to claim you back, I lost that right 6 years ago but I would lie if I said I'm happy for you."

Hot tears were already staining my cheeks by the end of my little speech. Turning around, I willed my protesting feet to carry me away from him before I gave in to the pull and stayed in his arms forever.
