TUp One Shots

Beach Day

"Oh come on, Taz! Everyone's going!" Up pleaded with her.

Taz sat on the couch reading a book.

"No."

Up walks over and kneels beside the couch. He puts his hands on her legs and puts his head on his hands.

"Pleaseeeeeeeeee" he says, drawing out the word.

Taz takes one hand off her book and places it on the back of his neck.

"Up, I hate the beach, you know that." She gently scratches the back of his neck.

"But you don't hate me." He gives her puppy dog eyes.

"I'm a grown up, Up. Puppy dog eyes don't work on me."

Up sits back and tries to think of another plan. Taz goes back to her book. Up stands and starts to slowly walk away.

"Okay- If you're sure." He turns to see if she's watching him. She's not.

"I'm sure." Taz says, not looking up from her book.

"Okay.. I guess I'll just go." He gets to the door and looks back again.

"Bye."

"I'm opening the door." Up said, opening it as slowly as possible.

"Okay. Don't forget to close it." She still hasn't looked up from her book.

Up sighed. "I'm really going. Here I go."

Taz laughed softly to herself.

"I'm closing the door." Up said between the crack of the door as he closed it. Up closed the door fully and leaned against it, disappointed that she wouldn't be joining him. He loved his crew, but things weren't the same without her.

The crew arrived at the beach. Up and Krayonder set up a tent for shade while Tootsie and MegaGirl unpacked the picnic. February was helping Bug walk on earth sand for the first time. He was a little confused by it.

They all ate lunch sitting on towels, laughing and telling stories and jokes.

"Up!" Called February, "Can you tell us about the first time you met Taz?" She asked. "She never wants to talk about it and she's not here, sooooo. Please?"

Up shifted, unsure if he should tell such a personal story of Taz's without her there.

"She never wants to talk about it because it's the day her whole family died. It's not romantic, February." Krayonder told her.

"Oh. Ew. Not fun." February said.

"I didn't know that about her family." Bug said quietly. "Is that why she never talks about them?"

Krayonder nodded.

Up still sat quietly just thinking.

"She lost them when she was 15. It was horrible." Up finally said. "It was her birthday and she was havin' a party. Then robots attacked her village." He continued.

Everyone sat in silence just listening. No one ever knew the true details about it.

"I was a lieutenant at the time and was in called in to help. I remember arriving, it was in the backyard of her house. There were fairy lights in the trees, a dance floor set up. But there were so many damn robots. We didn't have enough men to fight." Up took a sip of water, nobody dared to say anything. "I took down as many as I could, but by the time things had slightly calmed down, nearly everybody was dead. A lot of rangers too. Then I remember hearing this scream. This dead God awful scream. I ran around to the other side of the house and there she was. Tied up in a tree with two robots attacking her. She was holding a rake, trying to swat at them." He paused and took a breath. "I shot the robots and killed them but she was all bloody in that tree, I didn't think she had a fighting chance. I shot the rope and I caught her as she fell. She wanted to walk, but she clearly couldn't. I didn't want her to see all the dead people so I asked her to close her eyes, again she refused. Never listened to me from the start." he chuckled a tiny bit. "Then I brought her back to the starship with me and the rest is history."

Everyone sat quietly taking in what he said. Bug was the first to speak,

"I'm sorry that's how you two met."

Up shrugged. "It sucks but at least I got to meet her."

Tootise spoke next,

"When did you realise you were in love with her, Sir?"

Up smiled a little, "A couple years later. She's just perfect. I know you guys don't see it, but Taz is kind. She really is. And she would kill me for telling you, so no one tell her."

They all pretend to zip their lips.

"I think you two are great together, Sir." Specs told him. Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Alright. Enough of this sappyness. Time to get in the water!" Up jumped up and pulled off his shirt and ran towards the water. Everyone followed suit, except MegaGirl, who stayed by the tent.

The crew were having a fantastic time together. Krayonder was swimming near Up when he noticed something out of the water.

"Woah dude."

Up looked and smiled when he saw what Krayonder was pointed at. He waved. Taz waved back from the sand. Up quickly got out of the water and ran up the beach and scooped her up in a hug. She laughed a tiny bit.

"I thought you didn't want to come." He put her down.

"Eh, I finished my book." She told him. He laughed and kissed her.

"You coming into the water? It's real nice."

She nodded and took off her top and slipped out of her shorts. She had on a deep red one piece swim suit.

"Race you." And with that, Taz took off towards the water and Up followed suit. Everyone cheered as Taz entered the water.

"Happy you could make it, Lieutenant." Bug said.

Taz gave him a tiny smile.

The crew stayed at the beach all day enjoying eachothers company and having fun. No one was more happy then Up was.
