Sneaking Around

Taz stood at the back of the great hall. The place where the GLEE would hold award ceremonies and such. Taz was half listening to Admiral Jones talk about the year that had just past. He spoke about new recruits, rangers that had fallen, promotions and was giving awards out to certain rangers. Taz let herself lean again the wall and close her eyes, she couldn't give a shit about what was happening.

Taz let her mind wander. She thought back to her first proper conversation with people at the GLEE. It was after Up saved her from her quinceañera. She was lying in a hospital bed and he sat beside her calming her down. He had asked her name, her age, what she liked doing. Anything to distract her from the fact that she just lost her entire family. He had then told her all about being a Starship Ranger. She liked his stories.

Taz smiled softly to herself. She opened her eyes again and looked at the stage. Admiral Jones was still talking. His stories she didn't like as much. Whenever he spoke about when he was a field rangers, he would always make himself sound like a hero. He didn't exactly talk up his team or anything. Unlike Up. Up refused to say he was a hero. He would make excuses about how what everyone else did was more important then him.

Taz let her eyes scan the room. She saw Specs and Krayonder sitting in the third row. She could tell it was them from Specs' hair and Krayonder's backwards hat. She continued to look around and saw Bug sitting alongside February in the front. Sitting just behind them were Tootsie and MegaGirl. She was proud of her team. She would never tell them that, but she was.

Her eyes continued to wander and Admiral Jones started speaking about some upcoming missions. Her eyes finally landed on Up. He was standing by the other Commanders on the left wall. He looked good in his uniform. It wasn't his usual grey shirt and dark pants. It was a formal uniform. He was dressed in dark blue slacks, a white shirt with a tie and a dark blue blazer with badges and pins on it. She looked him up and down, he was standing very formally, unlike herself, and was listing to the Admiral, again, unlike herself.

She took this time to stand a little straighter. She tried to focus back in on the ceremony, but her eyes just kept falling back to Up. He had come so far since his accident. She really thought it would break him and he would never recover, but Bug World helped him. It made him tough again. He had saved her life again for what seems like the hundredth time.

Up's head turned and he saw her watching him. He winked at her then looked back to the Admiral. Taz laughed quietly, shook her head then turned back to the Admiral.

After the ceremony had ended, Taz hung around waiting for Up. He was talking to the other commanders. She waited just outside the door to the hall. When he walked out she grabbed his hand and began to run. He realised it was Taz straight away and ran with her. They eventually made it into the gardens, their favourite spot to be when they were on the earth base. They kept running until they made it to a quiet spot in the garden, near the back where a little bench was. Taz stood on the chair so she was a little taller then Up. He chuckled and held onto her waist.

"What are you doing up there?" He asked, chuckling.

"This." Taz lent down ever so slightly and kissed Up on the lips. She let her hands find his shoulders and held him. As he kissed her back, he held her waist tighter. Up eventually picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He then took a seat on the bench and they continued to kiss.

After a while, they both needed some air and pulled back. They smiled at each other. Up brought a hand up and tucked a piece of hair behind Taz's ear. He then let his hand linger on the side of her face before moving it back to her waist.

"It's a shame we have to keep this a secret, ya know." Up said softly.

"I know," Taz replied, "But it's kinda fun. All the sneaking around. Breaking the rules."

Up chuckled, "You're a sucker for breaking the rules." He hugged her to his chest. She laughed softly and placed her head on his shoulder.

"You look really nice in your uniform, Up." She told him, after some silence. She picked up her head to look at him again. His hands found her lower back and she leaned back.

"You'd much rather see it off," He told her chuckling. He smacked his shoulder gently.

"Oh, shut up, you." She pecked his lips then stood up. "Come on. We got stuff to do."

Up stood up and took her hand. He gave her a quick peck on top of her head then they headed back inside.
