I'll take care of you

Rain on my window pain

Derek POV:
I was surprised to see Meredith still sleeping when I woke up, but then I thought how she hasn't been sleeping the past few nights so a smile was plastered on my face. I watched her as her tiny figure fit against my body perfectly, like a puzzle piece. I watched her for what felt like hours before she woke up.

"Are you watching me sleep again?" She turned her head towards me and hurried her face into my chest. "We established this when we got married, I'm allowed to watch my beautiful wife sleep" I smiled as I could only see her hair covering her face. "How did you sleep" I ran my fingers through her hair which brought her out of her hiding hole. "Good, I had a nice dream" her smile lit up the room as I leaned down to kiss her.

"I want snuggle with my baby" she buried her head back into my chest closing her eyes. "Ok I'll go get her for you" I was about to get up when she wrapped her arms around me. "I thought you wanted snuggles with your baby?" I laid back down and she hovered over top of me again. "I do but you smell good, so stay here for a minute" I sat there and let her breathe in my Calvin Klein cologne. "Ok I'm going to get the baby" she reluctantly let me leave and go get Harper.

I came back minutes later to Meredith sleeping in the same position I left her in. "Ok there's mama, let's go surprise her" I quietly walked over to Meredith's bedside and set Harper down in her arms. She woke up almost instantly. "Hi baby!" Meredith wrapped her arm around harpers baby belly and tickled her tummy a bit. "Oh mama missed you" she kissed the baby's cheek. "You saw her yesterday." I giggled watching Meredith go soft. "Yes but mama still missed you" we both sat there adoring our baby when she started to fuss. "Oh are you a hungry girl?" Meredith sat up and un-clipped her gown. Harper immediately called down when she was giving her food and it put a smile on Mers face.

We both sat there in silence listening to her small suckling noises. After a few minutes Harper started to knead Meredith's chest with her little hands that signaled mer she was done. "Ok, you must have been hungry" I helped her clip her gown back up while she held Harper. We both watched as harper drifted off to sleep in her arms making little sounds every few seconds.

Mer and I both cuddled up and watched our baby sleep. It soon turned into me watching both of them sleep and then me falling asleep myself.

———2 hours later———
"Grey" doctor Bailey was standing at the opening of our hospital room. "I've got the discharge papers for her" I smiled and thanked her before setting them on the night stand waiting for Meredith to get up.

About 1 hour later mer woke up, "hey beautiful" I sat on the edge of her bed and lifted her gown. I checked out her incisions and palpated her abdomen, "hi, oh ouch that's tender" she flexed meaning that I should palpate another area. "Are you happy that your husband is a doctor now?" I gave her my infamous smirk. "Your not my husband, your just a sexy doctor" she winked and then played with my hair for a few minutes. "Really?" I leaned down a kissed her until Bailey walked back in. "Ugh nasty!" She came over to the opposite side I was on and checked her fluids. "What? I've been bed bound for 2 weeks I'm allowed to kiss my husband." She stuck her tongue out at Bailey, I loved watching her playful side.

"Ok well not anymore, get out of my surgical floor Grey. I don't plan on seeing you again unless it's work." We both smiled and she walked out of the room. "Yay I get to go home!" I handed her the papers and let her sign them before I took them to the front desk. "Yes you do"

Meredith POV:
About 1 hour later Derek had everything packed up and my wheelchair ready. "Are we ready?" He had the wheelchair in his arms at the doors and I was just grabbing some last minute things. "We are" he helped me walk over and sit down. "Ok, let's go" we wheeled to the front entrance where a couple of my friends where waiting. "Here's your baby" Callie handed me Harper with a big smile. "Thanks Callie" she had been watching Harper the most over the past few weeks. "Ahh it's my pleasure" Derek wheeled me over to the car and helped me in.

"Wait! I'm scared!" I grabbed his arms before he could shut the door, "Mer, I promise it will be fine" he held my cheek and kissed me before I let go of my grip. Once he shut the door I reached my hand behind the seat to feel harpers little feet. "Ok baby, are we ready? I don't know, but let's go anyways" I talked to Harper letting out a sigh. Derek got in and started the car as my hand worked it's way to find his. "Ok, let's go" he pulled out of his spot and we started driving.

Our house was about 15 minutes away from the hospital so we decided to go through town instead of taking the highway. On our way through we passed a fast food restaurant. "Oooh! In- and out!" I patted my hand against his thigh asking for food. "Pleaseeee!" I gave him puppy dog eyes, "oh how could I say no to that?" He winked and then pulled into the drive through.

We ordered and then waited at the sliding windows. "So..." Derek had been acting weird especially today for some odd Derek reason. "So?..." I asked wanting to know what was on his mind. "I was thinking, about...baby's" he let it slip off his tongue quicker than he wanted it too. "Baby's? As in more?" I raised my eyebrow at him, "ya, baby's are fun and exciting. And I want that knew baby feeling again" I looked at him like he was crazy, "harpers only 2 weeks old, she still is a newborn baby" he laughed knowing his plan didn't work out the exact way he wanted it too. We pulled up to the window and got our food. We started driving again, "ya, but you don't want to be pregnant again" I started to stuff my fries in my mouth, the cafeteria fried sucked. "No I don't" he looked over at me taking a sip of his drink. "What? But you looked so beautiful when you where pregnant" I looked at the back checking on Harper who was sound asleep by now. "No, I looked fat"
"Beautiful" he corrected me.
"Fat, like a hippo" he laughed seeing as he couldn't win, "ok fine, but this topic will be back" I rolled my eyes at him and then focused back onto my food.

Derek POV:
We pulled into the driveway and I parked my car in the garage. "Ok we're here" I got out of my side and then walked around the other side to help Meredith out. I walked her to the couch and set her down before going back outside and getting Harper. "Ok come here baby, we are going to snuggle with mum today" I lifted her up and she woke up making those little baby sounds that I love so much. I set her on the couch with Meredith and then went to the kitchen to make some soup.

That's when I thanked myself for building an open concept kitchen and living room so that I could see them. I made my mother's best chicken and carrot soup for Meredith and brought it to the couch. "Thank you honey" she gave me a kiss and then started to eat her soup while playing with Harper.

I sat down on the couch snuggling them both in and turned on Netflix. "What are we watching today my ladies" I was scrolling through movies and TV shows. "Um... maybe let's try, vampire diaries" I switched it on and got us all a blanket, Meredith held Harper in her arms while she was sleeping and her head rested on my shoulder. I played with her hair as we watched the sunset through our windows and watched TV.
