Sleep deprivation

——-2:45 am——-
"Derek..." I groaned as I heard soft cries of our baby from the monitor. "Derek." His eyes sprung open, he soon realized the baby was crying. He dug his face into his pillow and grabbed the monitor. "Can you get the baby?" I was still half asleep saying this to him, I noticed he started to fall asleep again so i decided I would do it myself. I walked down the hallway to the nursery where she was sleeping, I stood at the door way and looked into her crib. She was doing that little squirmy cry which meant she was hungry. "Oh, hi there baby... are you hungry? Is that why you got mama up so early?" I walked over to her crib and placed my hand on her bell which calmed her down a bit. I picked her up and pulled down the strap of my tank top allowing her to eat. "Oh there we go" I walked around the house cradling her and rocking her back and forth. Once she was done eating I rocked her in my arms and she quickly fell asleep. I looked down at her for a moment and watched my little angel sleep, she always slept with her hands pressed up against her little chest and would make little noises every few minutes. As I watched her sleep I heard small noises coming from upstairs. I looked over and saw Derek making his way down stairs to where I was cradling Harper. He walked over to us and stood behind me with his head on my shoulder. "Hi, did you wake mommy up because you where lonely?" He rubbed his hand over her head causing her to make little sweet noises. "Oh, shh" I tried to calm her down by giving her a kiss on the nose, she almost instantly fell back asleep in my arms. I pulled her up to my chest and laid her head on my shoulder, she cuddled her head up in between the crook of my neck and I could feel her warm little breathe on my skin. "Oh she's so adorable" I said to Derek as he watched me work my magic. "What are we gonna do when she grows up?" I felt little tears grow in my eyes. "We have another baby" he smirked as he played with her soft baby hairs on her head. "Absolutely not" I say as I smile down at Harper. "What? No more babies?" He pouts. "Not yet," I start to walk up to Harpers room and set her down in her crib, I watch her sleep for a moment while Derek stands at the door looking at both of us. "What?" I ask with a smile, "oh, just looking at my ladies." He smirks. I roll my eyes playfully and walk over to him. He starts walking back to the bedroom and I follow not far behind, he lays on the bed and closes his eyes until I crawl on top of him and snuggle into his chest. "Oh hello" he says running his fingers through my hair. "Hi" I say in a sweet voice, It's the baby talk. "I can't tell what your doing right now?" He says rubbing his hands up and down my bare back. "Mm, I'm doing this..." I put me head up and kiss him deeply. "Oh! I like that too" he rolls us over and we do our thing....

———-8:00am———
Derek POV:
I watched Meredith and the baby sleep on the monitor, I was just thinking how lucky I am to have this. "Good morning..." she smiles while closing her eyes again. "The BABY!" She jumps up, I get confused and then realize. "She's sleeping, shh" Meredith looked at me surprised and then looked at the clock, "it's 8:00" she sits back down on the bed. "I know...our little girl is growing up" I say in a sad voice. "Oh Derek she's only a week old" I get a slap in the bicep and then she cuddled into my chest trying to fall back asleep. "Still tired?" I say with a smirk, "yes because YOUR baby was up at 2:45am and then you kept me up until 5!" I laugh and the close my eyes with her. "Ya but you don't sound like you regret staying up until 5" I rub her back. "No I don't." She closed her eyes again for about 5 minutes and then the baby woke up. "Yay! Baby!" Meredith jumped up out of bed and ran down the hall.

She came back a minute later holding a sleepy baby who was being a little fussy. "Oh, shh..." she rocked it back and forth while she took off her shirt. "Do you want some breakfast?" Harper immediately starting suckling and stopped fussing. "Oh there we go" she cooed, I walked over and placed a kiss on the baby's head and then kissed Mers lips. "I'm gonna take a shower" I started walking when mer stopped me. "Here wait a minute and take Harper in with you" I looked confused on why she wanted me to hold our 1 week old baby in the shower with me. "It's skin to skin contact with daddy, she'll love it" Mer put her shirt back in and handed me the baby. "Come here my princess" I walked over to the bathroom and turned on the shower. "Oh there we go" I slowly stepped in and put Harper under the warm stream of water. Mer walked over and opened the shower curtain, Harper had her big blue eyes open and was looking around. "Hi baby!" She carried her little cheek with her finger as Harper got accustomed to the water. "Are you havin bath time with daddy?" She said in a sweet voice. I turned around and looked at Meredith, "she's growing on you" I said with a smile. "Mhm, yes I am, oh yes you have mama wrapped around your itsy bitsy fingers"
"Ok I have to go to work, she might not take the formula today so bring her in and I'll feed her" she gave me a kiss and then walked out the door...
