The game, you either have what it takes...or you don't. My mother was one of the greats, and well me? I'm kinda screwed...literally.
Derek POV:
As Meredith snuggled into my chest I got a rush of warm air over my body, like she was my guardian angel. I waited to hear her small snores until I let myself drift off to sleep.Bailey POV:
Meredith I strong, from the moment I met her I knew she had the guts to be an incredible surgeon, mother, wife and much more. She's always stubborn but keeps everybody on their feet. But the thing is... we don't know how to keep her on her own feet.I walked in the room to see Meredith and Derek both sleeping, I barley smiled before walking over and checking her vitals. I was about to leave when Derek woke up. "Miranda" he stuck his face out whispering to me from across the room. "She's doing fine" I reassured him, he nodded his head and let it fall back on Meredith's chest. I smiled and walked out of the room to let them sleep.
Meredith POV:
I don't know why I keep trusting my body to let me sleep? I keep having these nightmares, of dead Derek, or Harper. And they won't stop. I relaxed my body and thought about other things like baby's, husband, and food. I quickly fell asleep in his arms.———(I'm so cruel) so this is another dream———
(Or not... haha!)
I had that same feeling, that feeling of calmness, and warmth. I could hear the seagulls and waves, the water on my feet, and the sand in between my toes. I could really get used to this. The sun was piercing through my eyelids begging for entrance. I opened my eyes and shaded myself using my hands, I was somewhere. Somewhere familiar, but where?
I was sitting on a sandy log, washed up piece of drift wood. I looked around and saw nothing but sky, sand, and water. I got up and looked around. There was nothing, no buildings, no cars or roads even. But I knew I had been here before. "Meredith?" I mans voice shot hallow memories through my mind. I knew that voice, it could only be one person... "George!" I turned around and saw him leaning against a lifeguard shack.
"Mer! What are you doing here?" I walked over to the shack and stood in front of him. "I-I don't know?" I was just as confused as he was. He looked up at me with those sad George eyes and that's when I knew. "I'm not supposed to be here am I?" I pressed my lips together and looked up at the warm sun beaming down on my face. "No, you should be at home" I soaked in the warmth for a minute before turning my attention back to him. "Your baby is adorable" he smiled showing my a photo of her, I mirrored his smile. "How do you have this?" Its was a picture of me holding Harper in my hospital bed with Derek kissing me. And George was in the photo taking the selfie of us. "Dead people have talents" he joked.
"Uhhh it's amazing here" we both sat on the sand sitting in a mandala blanket, we had our back pressed against the same log I woke up on. "Ya, it's pretty great" I looked over at George, he was never one to say 'pretty great' "pretty great? It's AMAZING!" George laughed as we both looked at the view of the water. I watched it sparkle as waves formed and then disappeared against the rough rocks. "We should go swimming" I didn't have a bathing suit but swimming in clothes is fine with me. "The water isn't real Meredith" he laughed. I looked at him in shock of how such a beautiful piece of scenery could be fake. "What? That's so real" I squinted my eyes looking up at the sun. "No, it's amazing but it's very fake"
I stood up from the log and started walking around looking for a stone. "What are you doing?" George watched me prance around the beach finding the perfect rock. "I'm gonna through the rock in the water and prove to you it's real!" I yelled from across the sand banks. He laughed as I found a good stone. I threw it into the water with all my power. "Ha see! It splashed!" I danced around after proving George wrong, he sat up and walked over to where I was standing. "You sure?" He pointed at the exact same rock sitting where I picked it up in the first place. "What?" I was shocked, I just threw that rock. "Everything that goes in... just goes back to where it started. Like if you jumped in you would just end up right back here" I looked at him in amazement.
"So what do you guys do all day?" Me and George continued walking along the beach talking and catching up. "Well we whisk away to wherever we want really" I smiled as I stared at the grassy hills ahead of us. "What do you mean?" Did he mean whisk away to a vacation or to watch over somebody? "Well, we are like guardian angels. We watched over you guys and protect you" I could feel the water bridling the sides of my feet as the sand stuck between my toes. I looked at him in embarrassment. "Don't worry couples get privacy" I sighed in relief knowing my personal life wasn't being watched like a hawk. "How's Lexie?" I asked starting a new topic, "good they are in 4 world right now" there's more worlds? I thought to myself. "More beaches?" I asked in confusion.
"No, there's here, rain forest, city of haven, and where we live. We all live in big penthouses." It's sounds nice in... where ever we are, I like it here."Ugh I wanna stay forever!" I opened my arms and looked up at the sky basking in the warmth. "I know, but we both know that a little human is waiting for you, also a soulmate is waiting for you" I just barley smiled, I'm surprised he even noticed. "Go snuggle your baby and...do whatever you do with Derek" we both laughed. I gave George one last hug, "see us in 50 years!" I turned around to see him one last time. A single tear fell down my face as I waved goodbye. "I won't be expecting you for at least another 60!" I giggled a little bit before entering the light...
Teddy POV:
"Charge to 300! Clear!" I had gotten a page at 4:30 in the morning, I immediately jumped out of bed fearing that my 911 page was...Meredith. I sprinted through the hospital halls, "out of my way!" I say crash carts and nurses flooding into her room. "What the hell happened?" I took out my stethoscope and checked her heart. "V-fib! Give me the paddles!" I squirted the blue gel on the paddles and then yelled the call. "Charge to 100! Clear!" Merediths heart didn't stabilize. "200! Clear!" I shocked her again only to be welcomed by a flatline. I heard Dereks crying in the back-round and I knew I couldn't let her die. "Come on Meredith!" I started to CPR compressions. After 20 painful minutes of CPR her heart refused to restart. Derek was now watching through the window. He was a mess, tears where flooding down his face and his body was pressed against the door. "Dammit Meredith come on!" I stepped back and I could feel anger rush over me. It coiled in my veins and I needed to hit something, I threw my fist at Meredith's chest causing the rest of her ribs to break. We all sat there listening to the line of the monitor. "Come on, come on" I crossed my fingers not taking my eyes off the green line.
"Dr. Altman..." hunt tried to drag me away but I stopped him. "Shut up! Shut up!" I stood there staring, waiting... when finally... "heart rates back!" I rushed over to her and manually ventilated her with a bag. "Thank you Meredith, I did not want to tell your husband you died." I bagged her for another 10 minutes until she woke up and was fighting the tube. I took it out and let Derek back in the room.
