Chen Jiaxin's POV

"Ma, I missed you so much," I exclaimed as I ran towards her.

"Jiaxin," my mom greeted back as she welcomed me into her tight embrace.

Today, Xiyi, Zhengren and I were going back to Huaniao Island so that they can visit the factory workers there who were under Chengjie Group as well but were unable to participate in the Employee's Day Celebration this last Monday.

However, Xiyi insisted that we take my mom also so she can visit the island with us and atleast have a rest from her work at the noodle shop.

"We could just have meet each other in the dock," she said as she let go of me.

"Ma, we knew that you're very tired with everything in the shop so how can we just let you travel alone," Xiyi interrupted.

My mom smiled as Xiyi took and carried her bag towards the compartment of the car.

"Eyy you two, stop spoiling me, okay?"

I chuckled then held my mom's hand.

"Let's go?" I said as I pulled her towards the car.

Xiyi drove while I sat next to him. My mom sat beside Zhengren and were now both sleeping comfortably at the back.

"Are you not tired?" I asked Xiyi.

"Of course not. I slept very well last night," he replied and looked at me mockingly.

I laughed softly.

It was because I did asked him to sleep early last night after preparing our stuffs.

Well, the truth was I noticed that he wanted to do that 'thing' last night.

But I was not really up for that after what happened in the hospital.

After buying those pills and taking them into my mouth.

It felt like lying continuously.

Commiting another lie after just one lie.

I felt Xiyi's hand pinched my left cheek.

"I was just kidding. Don't think too much."

I looked at him and held his hand that was free from the steering wheel.

We reached the dock just on time before the ship heading towards the island sailed.

My mom and I sat on an empty bench on the upper deck as we wait for Xiyi and Zhengren. The two of them had to drive the car in the ship so they told us to head inside first.

"Jiaxin, you look a little skinny since the last time I saw you. Is your husband starving you at your house?" My mom suddenly spoke.

I smiled at her.

"Ma, Xiyi had been feeding me well even outside the house. In fact, he just took me last week on a Hungarian restaurant in case I'm missing the food back there."

My mom then took my hand and gave it some squeeze.

"Is that true?"

I nodded.

"Then that's a good thing. I had been worrying about you. You need to call me often."

"Okay, Ma. I was just busy looking for a studio recently but I promised to call you more often after we go back in Shanghai, okay?"

She then smiled at me and looked away to stare at the sea.

I knew my mom can be easily embarrassed at times like this that she needed to show her affection to me. But I'm really moved to see her still try and make some efforts to reach out to me.
