Xiyi's POV

Today is a busy day for the company. It is the celebration of Employee Appreciation Day and employees are allowed to bring their own families to celebrate with them. Employees from other branches were also invited to attend the event.

So to start today's event, Zhengren and I, together with Grandma went earlier to work today compared to the usual. Grandma is set to give a commemorative speech later at the start of the event.

On the other hand, Auntie Xiuling will come with Jiaxin a little bit later to help her prepare for the workshop.

Fortunately, Jiaxin volunteered to help so Anson no longer need to find a replacement for the artist who seemed to have vanished into thin air. The only difficult part of this disappearance were the materials prepared for the event. It was all meant for painting!

So the HR department had to return all those supplies and exchange them with stuffs mainly used for pottery like pottery wheels and kiln.

"Anyway Mr. Yi, I made sure that everything were set so Ms. Jiaxin won't have a problem later. The only thing she needs to do is to be here, of course," Anson explained.

"Okay. But I still want you to investigate the thing about that artist, make sure to find out everything about his disappearance because what he did was so unproffesional. Besides he's giving my wife some unnecessary trouble."

"Okay Mr. Yi. I'll work on it and have you updated."

"Thank you. I'll leave first to see Grandma in her office."

I left my office while Anson went to the events hall to have the last inspection of the decorations.

As I reached the Chairwoman's office, I saw Grandma holding something which I supposed is a copy of her speech later.

"Grandma."

"Xiyi."

"Are you nervous?"

She smiled.

"You look more nervous to me," she replied.

Well, a bit.

I sat down on the vacant seat in front of her table.

"I'm just a little worried about Jiaxin, Grandma. You think she's finally okay now?"

Grandma put down the script she was holding and faced me.

"Xiyi, Jiaxin is still in the healing process. Don't rush her, take everything slowly. She's going to be alright, okay? Maybe not today, but one day she will."

I sighed.

"You just have to be patient and wait for her. You know what happened in the past is a lesson for everyone. But you're back together again, you see? And that's what you need to protect now, your present."

I looked at Grandma while she says those things and saw how sincere she is.

"Thank you Grandma. You know I'm always grateful to you because you're the one who brought us together in the very first place. And even after what we went through, you were still there to help us reunite."

She smiled.

"Just be happy, alright? In that way you can repay me. And a great grandchild is just a bonus," she said and eventually laughed at her own joke.

"We'll get there, hopefully soon."

We both smiled.

After the small talk I had with Grandma, I left her in her office so she can continue with her script.
