JC
We're home.
JM said Yve's not feeling well and she took a rain check on coming with Leah. She didn't know I was coming home with him. I hoped she would come, I was praying she'd run to me as soon as she sees me, as if the years we were apart never happened. But she's not coming, and it scares me to my core.
He did ask me if I wanted to meet her kids and I said yes. I love them already because they're hers. We'll be able to work it out. I'll do everything to win her back.
I still can't understand how she could have kids.
Leah came running towards us and I felt a pang of jealousy, how I missed seeing my wife running towards me. It's been way too long.
I took a deep breath. That's why I'm here, to win her back.
I heard Leah say, "I have Yno and Yna with me." JM glanced my way and Leah turned to look at me.
"Hi JC." She said.
"Hi Leah." I said. And I hugged her.
"It's good to have you back." She said as we pulled apart.
"It's good to be home." I like the sound of that.
Home.
"I'm sorry I couldn't bring Yve with me." She said as she took a deep breath. "You guys will work it out." She added.
"I hope so. I hope she takes me back Leah." I told her.
"Hey, she's crazy about you. She never believed, not for one second that you died. Why wouldn't she take you back?" She said, she looked troubled for a second then it was gone.
"She doesn't know about Laura, Jace. You're all cleared." JM said.
I couldn't help but smile, at least that lie Laura created didn't hurt my wife. I will tell her about it eventually, because I want to be as honest with her as I can. But for now, I just want to concentrate on us, and her kids, our kids.
She ran back to the car as soon as she saw two small kids peek from inside. It was Yve's daughter and an older boy. An older boy? Maybe it was Lean, JM's son, yeah. It's probably Lean.
When we got inside the van, the two kids went to JM and gave him a hug. They're really close to Leah and JM and probably everyone else. Of course their son would be. Yve's daughter really looks like her, and she was staring at me.
They both looked at JM. "Hi uncle J." They both said. Uncle J? He isn't their son then.
"Hello kiddos. How was your trip?" He asked them.
Yna became quiet and Yno stared at him for a while before he said, "Not good." All three of us looked at them. I was shocked that a small boy would give such baffling answer.
Leah whispered to me, "JM has a way of getting some answers from them, you see. That's why I brought them with me. I need to know what's going on inside Yve's head." I see.
Does she think these kids know something? And how can Yve have an older son?
"Why so? You went to Disneyland, right?" JM asked them.
"Yeah. We went to New..." Yna started to say but Yno cut her off. "We went somewhere for a day but got back on the plane again. Mommy said, she had business to attend to. I think it didn't work out because she wasn't herself the rest of our trip." He explained.
"And she got sick because she didn't go on the rides with us. She always comes with us, but not this time." Yna added.
"What do you mean she wasn't herself Yno?" JM asked.
