JC
I got a message from Yve around three this afternoon, she said to give the keys to my assistant so the driver can load our things. Talk about surprises, I was going to surprise her because I got the Panamera and that's what we're using tomorrow. I wrote a note for the driver not to tell Yve about the car. But what things?
I'll find out soon enough. The sales meeting was a wrap and I went down to see what she meant. It was an overnight bag and our bags for the wedding. We're leaving early? Why didn't they send car seats though? Or are we going ahead of everyone else?
I like that surprise.
Don't get me wrong, I love our twins. They bring joy and meaning to our lives, and without them, I wouldn't even have my Yve with me, but I still want some alone time with my wife. Our everyday life is a routine of us being parents, being bosses, playing all the roles we need to play, including being a husband and a wife. Sometimes it's fun to be just me and Yve. And honestly, I think we need our alone time.
She asked me to pick her up at 6, I guess she still has loads of stuff to finish. My phone rang as I was heading back to my office. I picked it up.
"Hi dad. What's up?" I said.
"Hi Jace. Are you still at the office?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm not leaving yet. Yve told me to pick her up at 6 and my meeting ended a few minutes ago." I told him.
"Are you busy?" He asked. Something's up, I know my dad, he doesn't call like this. He plans everything ahead so when stuff like this come up, Yve and I both agree, it's more important to be with him.
"No dad. I'm done." I told him.
"Ok, do you want to have coffee with your old man at the coffee shop across your office?" He said.
"You're not old dad, but I'd love coffee. Where are you?" I asked.
"I'll be there in about 5, 10 minutes tops."
"Ok, let me just close my office and I'll meet you there right after."
It was only 4 pm when I arrived at the coffee shop, dad was already there.
"Hi dad." I said.
"Hi Jace. I took the liberty to order your coffee for you." I sat down across from him.
"Thanks dad. So what's up?" I asked.
He took a deep breath before he said, "I've been exchanging messages with your mother for quite some time now. Well, since I asked her to file a case against Laura."
When I didn't answer, he continued.
"She's changed. I mean, from the first time she first sent me a message until her last one." He said.
"How so?" I asked.
"At first it was just regarding the case, but there was a change, it was very subtle. Like I said, she wants to see you when you come to the hearing. And she knows you're here in the Philippines and you're back together with your wife, and your twins. She said you all seem happy."
No.
"What?" How can mom know all that? I need to protect my wife and my children.
"Jace, she's known for a while now." Dad said. "I don't know how but I had it all checked. She's been flying in and out of the Philippines for quite a while now. She started flying to and fro after your accident. She knew Yve gave birth to twins. And that your son looks exactly like you, and your daughter, exactly like Yve."
