Rachel is arriving this evening, and our grandparents have prepared dinner at their place for all of us. Yve's parents are in London for a few weeks, they'll be back before the wedding, until then, Yve is in charge of everything.
It's quite different, we weren't sure if she wanted to have dinner with all of us so it was just dad who went to the airport to pick them up. Rachel has always been difficult so we didn't hire her house help and nanny just yet. We just got a list of applicants and she could do the interview before she hired them.
We were hanging out near the pool when dad called me and said they were on their way here, to everyone's astonishment.
Yve talked to the twins about Caroline yesterday.
"Your cousin is coming here from the U.S.." The twins jumped up and down. They really wanted more cousins, they're lucky to have Lean, but they really wanted more.
"But she's not used to having cousins." She told them and they both sat back down looking dejected.
"Why not mommy?" Yno asked her.
Yve knew Caroline kept to herself, no one wanted to be friends with her because she was a bit of a brat.
A bit is an understatement. I saw the reports they sent Yve about Caroline, She would make Diego look like a sweetheart during the time he was bullying my twins. She was seeking attention because her mom barely notices her, if she does at all.
"Well, she grew up alone, and her mom was away most of the time. You need to give her time and space to adjust, ok?" She said.
"Is it the same as Diego?" Yna asked.
"In a way, it's similar. Give her time, she's also older than you. She's already 4." Diego was turning five and it's not similar, Diego would be a doll compared to her.
And she also flaunts her possessions. She loves her money and her designer clothes. I'm so happy with the way my children are growing up, they have a little of everything, of course we can afford to give them that, but Yve taught them to value everything they have equally.
"Ok mommy." The twins said together and they hugged her. I'm still amazed at how emotionally mature my twins are. The fact that they've always been secure about our love for them even when they've never met me says a lot about how she raised them.
When things like that happen, I often feel my heart falling in love with her over and over.
They've arrived. Rachel and Caroline were all made up which looked out of place in this casual setting.
I've only ever seen Caroline in pictures but she's gorgeous alright, she takes after her mother. Hopefully, she's not as stuck up, but I'm not optimistic.
All three kids ran up to dad and he caught them all. They do that every time. They love their grandad.
Dad turned to Caroline, who was looking at dad and the three kids, "Caroline, these are you cousins, Lean, Yno and Yna." Then he looked at the three and said, "Kids, this is your cousin, Caroline."
Then she looked up at Rachel and said, "this is you niece, Yna." He said, as he gestured towards Yna. "And your nephews, Lean and Yno." He said as he gestured to each child.
"Hi Caroline." The three said in unison. She nodded her head in their direction, while I glanced at Yve who was watching Caroline, this was going to be tough.
I know my wife is trying to read Caroline's reaction, she really wants to understand her.
"Hi Auntie Rachel." They all said together. She nodded her head towards the kids. Is she really going to be this difficult?
