The crunch of leaves could be heard as tiny foot steps ran across the dark forest floor, the moon being the only source of light guiding the way. ( Y/n)'s house was 5 miles away from the nearest city and it was all woods from there.
Looking forward and no longer behind her, terrified that the shadow creature or her parents were chasing her, (y/n) kept running at her full speed. Adrenaline pumping through her veins, arms swinging side by side, and sweat dripping down her face, (y/n)'s only destination was away from that house.
After a couple of minutes of running, that same voice came back to her, in the back of her head.
"Stop running"
Again she listened and slowed down to a walk, eventually she stopped moving altogether. Finding the nearest tree, placing a hand on the trunk for support while the girl gasped for air. Never in her life did she exercise, so running full speed like that exhausted her.
Slowly getting back to a normal breathing rhythm, she slumped down to the bottom of the tree, back leaning against the hard bark, she placed her elbows on her knees and moved her head into her hands, that's when the crying began. Uncontrollable sobs manifest in the back of her throat and tears poring out of the poor girls eyes, soaking her now ripped jeans. She stayed just like that until she fell into a comfortable slumber.
