FOSTER CHILD | ACT ONE
scene sixteen: electrifying

ISLA WASN'T SURE if her tremors were coming from the terror of having to be in the same room as Darren Cross or if it was from the second dosage of the adrenaline shot she had taken a few moments ago. She might have not been the best at science but she was sure that taking unneeded shots could probably prove to be fatal but honestly, that was the least of her worries at the moment.

Her knees banged off of the doors as Hank drove into parking lot. Her heightened senses weren't kicking in yet. Maybe her fear was repressing it, blurring her thoughts so she couldn't feel anything from afar clearly. She just prayed that it would kick in before she got in the building.

Hank parked the car with the help of a valet boy and they both got out. Electrifying. Electrifying was the word Isla would use to the describe the moment her feet touched the asphalt. She could feel everything, she could see everything. That second shot of adrenaline was really doing her justice.

With each step she took towards the entrance she could feel the overflow of people bustling about as they went on about their evening. It was crazy to her, to know where everyone and everything was heading to without even having to ask or look with her eyes.

As she continued to walk towards the entrance, she felt two heavy sets of footsteps walking towards her and Hank at an alarming pace.

"Walk faster." Isla uttered in her Hank's, grabbing Hank's as the began to walk faster towards the door.

"Stop right there." Isla silently cursed under her breath, taking a step back to let the couple behind them walk into the building.

"Hank Pym, you're coming with us for some questioning." The cop said. The voice sounded familiar to her but she didn't want to turn around and confirm her suspicions in case they were to send her right back to New York.

Hank turned around and faced the two men. "Listen to me, if I don't get into this building people will die." Hank told them, a dark stare in his eyes.

"That's awfully dramatic." The other cop responded.

Isla and everyone else turned around when red and blue lights started to shine throughout the street and the whirring sound of the siren sounded throughout the night as the cop car swerved down the road.

"Are you kidding me?!" She heard Paxton say as she entered the building, Hank following close behind her.

She took off her braclet and placed it in the box. She held her breath as she walked through the metal detector, only releasing it when the detector beeped green. She sighed as she picked up her bracelet, wrapping it around her wrist as she walked alongside Hank.

"There he is." She looked up to see Darren and Hope. "Just in time, accompanied by his niece. Come on." Darren said, his arm shadowing behind Hank's as he led them throughout the building.

Isla gave Hope a wary look and followed shortly afterwards. She really wished she hadn't worn heels that night as she was struggling to keep up with everyone's long and fast paced steps.

Darren stopped at a vault, bending over at the door as the keypad scanned his eyes for access.

"Little over the top, don't you think, Darren?" Hank spoke, looking at the vault.

Darren smiled. "No, you can never be too safe."

"Access granted." The computer echoed, the doors of the vaults opening.
