FOSTER CHILD | ACT ONE
scene fourteen: decoys, damsels and dummies

ISLA HUNG upside down on the couch in the kitchen, her nose deep into the anatomy book as everyone waited for Scott to change from his suit after his mission at the abandoned Stark warehouse. Correction, it was actually the New Avengers facility, something both Hank and Hope failed to figure out until Scott got there.

She was sent out of the room as soon as the mission went south which made her extremely anxious and livid so she took to train . She was progressing fast and even managed to take down Hope a few times-no dirty tricks were involved that time. She would also do sneak attacks on Scott every now and then causing the older man to be more cautious around her. He didn't want to be making a sandwich and then next thing he knew his back was aching and his hand was pounding as he was slammed onto the floor.

Scott had immensely improved ever since his breakthrough with the ants. Since he learned how to control them training ran a lot more smoother and he was becoming a real superhero which amazed Isla, even though she didn't want to admit it. He was able to shrink and resize himself on command, nailing the keyhole jump each time and grew a genuine bond with the ants. He still couldn't beat Isla's surprise attacks with bothered him a lot.

Hank and Hope filled her in on the minor details on
how the mission panned out from when she left the room and left the rest for her to figure out herself seeming as she had a knack for doing so anyways.

"Say...Hope." Isla drawled gaining Hope's attention, flicking the page of the book. "Do you have a little thing for Scott?"

Hope perked up from her seat at the breakfast table. "What makes you say that."

"He seems like you're type of guy." Isla assumed, putting the book down, deciding that she'd looked at the butterflies long enough.

"Scott is far from my type of guy."

"Whatever you say...you just don't know what's good for you." Isla spoke, smiling in her book as she flipped the page.

Hope rolled her eyes and shook her head, a slight smile on her face.

Hank bursted into the room, Scott following behind him with a nonchalant look on his face. Isla immediately sat proper in her seat, her grin dropping from her face, slamming the book shut as she nervously looked at Scott who took to standing beside her.

"That was completely irresponsible and dangerous!" Hank yelled,
pacing around the room. "You jeopardized everything!"

Isla watched Scott as he reached into his pocket, gasping lightly as he pulled out Pym's signal decoy, placing it on the table.

The entire room went quiet as they looked at the signal decoy in shock and disbelief. A smug look was plastered onto Scott's face as he watched Hank look between himself and the decoy before picking it up for further inspection.

Hope leaned forward, smiling. "You got it."

Scott looked at her and nodded and Isla could just feel the tension between the two of them as she sat on the yellow couch.

Hank looked at Scott, an unreadable expression on his face which cause Isla's anxiety to go through the roof. "Well done."

"Wait a minute. Did you just compliment me?" He asked jokingly, glancing towards Hope and Isla. "He did, didn't he?"

"Kind of sounded like he did."

Hank presses a button on the decoy, causing it to light up. "I was good, wasn't I?"
