ISLA LAY, WATCHING THE CLOUDS DRIFT THROUGH THR SKY, PETER SAY NEXT TO HER CATCHING UP ON SOME HOMEWORK.

It was peaceful, gazing up at the clouds and pondering what shape they took as they floated around the globe before the condensed into rain. She wondered how many people had looked up at the clouds, noting that one was shaped like a rabbit and the other a hammer.

Handing that box over to her grandmother was like a symbol of tranquility, like she was pushing all her burdens onto her grandmother. An older, more wiser person who knew how to deal with tough situations a child should've have to deal with it.

She enjoyed her newfound peace and she couldn't be more grateful that Lego boy, or Peter, was the person she was spending with now.  Pierre and Ezra were fun but they were spontaneous and Isla didn't need any more impromptu plans adding unwanted stress to her life.

She didn't have to worry about that stupid box with Peter, only about whether or not if he was thinking about what the hell she was talking about with her grandmother—he was thinking about it, but he didn't tell her that, he was scared of his new and only friend.

Her mind was clear of Scott and how he chose his stupid ants over her, Arkansas and the death of her mother and how the people who she grew to love killed her sole motivator. The Hydra representatives who she was sure were still looking for her for some reason, keeping her at edge at all times. Even Darren cross, the sociopathic man who tried to kill her a little over a month ago hadn't crossed her mind yet in over ten minutes, which was a huge deal for her. Or so she felt she did.

She sighed dreamily, watching a cloud of a swan drift by, a crow temporarily soaring past.

"Can't we just hang at my place or something?" Peter asked out of the blue, swatting a mosquito off of his shoulder.

"No." Isla mumbled, remembering that she still had to call Paxton within the next week, not realising how quickly time had passed. She turned her head to look at Peter, grass poking the corner of her eyes. "I don't want to face my family until I do what needs to be done."

Peter sighed, crinkling his face as he looked down at Isla, the harsh light of the sun doing nothing but hurting his eyes. "Well, what needs to be done?"

"Nothing too important." She shrugged, gazing up back at the clouds. One of them started to look like a two people running away together. Isla chuckled, reminded of the time her and Vincent ran from the cops together.

"Well surely it's important enough for you to do to talk to your family again."

"Hey can we not talk about it?" Isla grimaced, the unwanted thoughts coming back again. "I need you to continue being a distraction."

"So you're using me as a distraction?" Peter pursed his lips, sighing heavily as he looked up at the sky. He should've seen it coming, people only used him for their own means after all and tossed him to the side when they were done with him, joining the large group of people that enjoyed teasing him.

"Yes." She answered earnestly. "But only for now." She stood up on her elbows, rocking her feet back and forth as she looked up at Peter's brown eyes. "You calm me Lego Boy."

"Calm you?" He asked, teasing smile on his face. "You've only known me for like two weeks."

"Just shut up and cloud gaze with me alright."

"Can't." Peter shook his head, wafting rubber pieces off of his page. "I want to get my chemistry homework out of the way."

"Ew science. I don't know how you do it."

"Well it's not that hard really, it's easy enough to grasp."

"Said no one ever." She said sarcastically. She lifted herself up, resting her arms on her crossed legs as she watched Peter do his homework. "I've never passed a science test before."

Peter stopped momentarily, taking in what she had just said before continuing his homework. "I refuse to believe that."

"It's true! I've never passed one."

Peter scoffed. "Science is so easy." He said with a smirk, brushing his homework aside before he locked eyes with Isla, the girl already staring at him with her chin buried deep into her knees and arms tightly wrapped around her calves.

She rolled her eyes and glanced down at the grass. "Says the kid who goes to a science school." She said, extracting the grass up from the ground.

Peter watched her as she sprinkled the grass down onto his hand, enjoying the tickling sensation it brought. "Says the girl who can count over one hundred digits of Pi." He rebutted, brushing the grass off his hand."I can barely get up to eighty."

"I think the furthest I got to was 300? Or higher, or maybe even lower I don't remember." She thought aloud, she found herself forgetting a lot of little things like that as the days passed by.

"You know I can always tutor you."

"Tutor? Professor Lego Boy does have a tone to it I guess."

"Alright, you can come over after school Monday."

"As long as Terry gets to come." She pointed behind her to where Teresa sat. They both turned to look over at Teresa who was intently looking at them. "My personal hated bodyguard." Isla
joked, sending a small wave at Teresa. Teresa ignored the gesture, rolling her eyes and turning her attention to the pestering kid that stood in front of her.

"Sure, why not." Peter said.

i am so sorry that you all waited so long for pure filler 😭

i honestly thought i'd be able to get a longer chapter out but the end of school year has really been kicking me ass for absolutely no reason

not to mention i have exams to study for in four weeks.

so bare with me if updates are slower paced and shorter! i promise as soon as summer holidays starts i'll pump out chapters like a machine

also they're are only four phone booths left in New york which  is just shocking to me? I've never used one but still it's sad and exciting to see how we evolve so much you know?
