Eventually, the entire town knew about El's reappearance. A few people even left El some flowers on the doorstep as a welcome home gift.

After the news came out, a lot of people's lives went back to normal, not all however. El's life never went back to normal, it was better. Her normal life was being stuck in the lab doing experiments all day and never having any freedom. Now, she can leave the house and live in the real world. She can be the normal girl she always wanted to be.

A few weeks after her returning, she went back to school, something she didn't expect she would miss but she did. She got to hang out with the party at the movies and stuff like that instead of being hidden in her bedroom in fear of Brenner finding her.

Now she doesn't even have to worry about the lab. With Brenner (the leader of the lab) being dead, they had no choice but to close down the lab, stating in the news that, "it was a public disgrace and did more harm than good," which was beyond true.

El's life seemed to get better everyday after her rescue. She and the party would spend hours talking and hanging out in Mike's basement just because they could. El and Mike would hang out the most out of the party however. Sometimes they wouldn't even talk to one another, they would just enjoy each other's company.

She and Holly would hang out a lot too. El always thought Holly gave her a piece of her childhood she was missing when they were together. It didn't take to long for them to become each other's sister and have an unbreakable bond.

Nancy finally decided to attend a local university so she would still be at home to help with the kids. Nancy wasn't the only one with that plan, Jonathan decided to join the local university in order to be with his family and enjoy the time they had with each other.

El and Joyce finally had that mother, daughter relationship that both of them wanted desperately. El even started to call her mom when they started taking Saturday's as their girl days. They would always enjoy those days to themselves.

El and Hopper became even closer after the whole Brenner fiasco. Hopper started to become more lenient with the rules around the house and outside. He started to let her do more things with her friends and let her live her life. He even started to allow her to use her powers in the house.

Steve and Robin would always be there for the kids and El realized why the party enjoyed having them around. Between Steve's worrying and Robin's sarcastic remarks, El ended up liking them more and more.

The party got closer overall. After everything and all the trauma they went through, they knew that their friendship could last through anything, the good and the bad.

They would hang out and have sleepovers every Friday night, and do anything that came to their minds. This sleepover, a few months after they rescued El, they pulled an all nighter watching their favorite movies. Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Terminator.

The next day, everyone tiredly went home one by one until it was just Mike, El, and Will. They stayed after to help clean up the mess they made. After a while Will decided to go home.

"You coming?" He asked El and nodded his head towards the door.

El shook her head and smiled. "I'll stay here a little while longer."

"Okay." Will nodded and left Mike and El by themselves.

They both sat next to each other on the couch, just taking in the silence around them.

"So, what was your favorite movie we watched last night?" Mike asked after a few minutes of silence.

"I don't know." El shrugged and rested her head on his shoulder. "Ghostbusters, maybe."

"Yeah, that's a good one." Mike laughed softly before they slipped into the comforting silence once again. "Hey, El?"

"Yeah?" She asked not moving her head.

Mike turned his head slightly to see some her face. "I like you."

"I like you too." El responded snuggling into him more.

"No, I mean.." Mike paused to find the words he was looking for. "I really, really like you. As more than a friend. I want to be more than friends with you."

El lifted her head off his shoulder and looked at him. "What?" She asked not confused, but in disbelief.

"I want to be your boyfriend." He stated with hope in his eyes. "And I want you to be my girlfriend."

He watched has El's expression went from shock to her beautiful smile. She cupped his face with both of her hands and kissed him lightly. She pulled away and nodded. "I would like that."

The words were enough to make Mike's heart fluttered as he kissed her lightly, not wanting to scare her away. After he broke up the kiss both of them smiled at each other as they went back to relaxing on the couch. Mike wrapped his arm around El, as she snuggled into his chest.

If you would ask them, this is the moment they both felt true, pure happiness. They were with each other.

They were home.
