The Room

"You sure you want to do this, guys."

"Jesus! Steve, just open the door!" Robin snapped at Steve who stood at the door of room 011 with his hand on doorknob.

"Fine! Fine!" He shrugged and open the door all the way.

No one stepped in at first. It was like they were frozen and unable to move, all they could do was look at the room from the door frame. It felt like there was a power separating them and the room. The power being knowledge. Knowing what could have happened, what she spent her life in. Did they really want to know this?

Robin was the first one to take a leap of faith by stepping into the room. She across her arms in front of her as she started to walk around taking in the room.

The room was small. It had no windows so it felt like the walls could close in on you at anytime. With the industrial door, it seemed like a prison cell. And the only pieces of furniture in the room were a desk with a chair and a bed. The entire room had this creepy feel to it, maybe it's because they knew who this room was meant for.

After a few seconds, the rest of the group joined her in the room, coming in one by one. By the time Steve made it in, the room was cramped but that didn't stop anyone from looking around.

Nobody said anything. They didn't know what to say. They were witnessing what El childhood room looked like, and it wasn't exactly welcoming.

Robin, after a few minutes, broke the silence. "I feel bad." She continued to look at the sad excuse for a bedroom. "I mean, being in this small room to live in for most of your life, only allowed to leave when people are going to do experiments on you. It's messed up."

"Yeah, no kidding." Steve said from the corner of the room. "I'd imagine life getting pretty boring living like this."

"You can tell why El never really liked to talk about it." Will said moving around the room to the best of his ability. "She never told us about what her room looked like or the experiments she had to do, but if she kept this a secret, imagine the other things she was hiding."

Will shook his head at his thoughts before continuing. "When she was explaining the lab, she kept it brief. She didn't tell us how much she got hurt or what experiments she had to do or-"

Will stopped mid sentence. He looked frozen in his spot, looking at something no one else knew what it was.

Mike looked at him weirdly and looked to see if he could see anything for himself. He didn't. Mike, along with everyone else, grew more and more confused as the seconds passed. "Will, what is it?" Mike asked raising a questioning eyebrow.

"Blood." Will muttered quietly.

"What?" Lucas asked not hearing him.

"Blood!" He spoke louder this time. He crouched down to the floor and pointed at a few specks of blood that laid right front of him. The group followed his finger and saw it for themselves.

"Holy shit!" Dustin exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, I'm confused." Robin said looking at the kids. "Is this supposed to be a big finding? Does it have a big significance? What is happening here?"

Max looked back her to explain. "Whenever El used her powers, her nose would start bleeding to show that."

"So this can mean one of three things." Lucas explained what their minds were going to.

"One. Hopper, when he came here, injured himself when he was tearing this place up and left blood on the floor." Dustin started with the first hypothesis.

"Two. They brought El back here before they killed her and injured her." Will said standing up from his crouch position.

"Or three. El tried to use her powers to get out of here and some of the blood from her nose got on the floor." Mike finished.

"So, what you're saying," Steve tried to put together the pieces his brain wasn't allowing him to put together, "is that there is a good chance, within those four days, that they brought her back here before they killed her, right?"

"Exactly!" Dustin said looking at Steve proudly.

"Well, we just have to ask Hopper if he hurt himself before or when he came in here." Robin nodded along, completely following the conversation unlike Steve.

"Yes!" Max said with a little hope in her eyes. It was little, she didn't want her hopes to find Brenner get the best of her, again.

"Okay. Can we do it now? Cause this place is really making my skin crawl." Robin said moving toward the door.

"Yeah, totally!" Will said following her with a smile on his face. Yes, he learned some stuff about El's past that he would have been happy not knowing, but he had also gotten something he hasn't had in a while. Hope.

The group started to walk down the hallway, back to the staircase again. Everyone was following Robin as Steve brought up the rear.

"So, how do you think Hopper missed that if that wasn't his blood?" Steve asked the kids.

"I don't know for sure, but I think when he came here he was looking for bigger things and didn't really focus on what was on the floor." Mike shrugged.

"But Will saw it, how come he didn't?"

"Because for the past year I've been drawing pictures and memories of El and the party. I always try to focus on the little things because that's what makes the picture seem more like real life. Over the past year, I've been getting better at noticing little things. Maybe Hopper doesn't think like that." Will stated.

The smile on his face grew a little wider as he thought about the possibilities. That maybe it would be enough to convince Hopper to continue with El's case.

Little did he know, Hopper was back on the case. Just for a little bit.
