Chapter Six

October 2nd, day two of the Dare Challenge

Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo...

Draco did not feel like getting up. Instead, he hugged the dainty girl in his arms closer. Luna stirred and he sighed.

"I don't want to get up," he told her in her hair.

Luna giggled. "Come on, Draco. We need to get to class."

Draco smiled in the pool of golden hair that caressed his face. "How about we skip and just read?"

"No," Luna told him after a few moments of hesitation. Well, at least she thought about it.

Draco waved his wand from the nightstand to quiet the clock above them. The bird paused, then retreated back into the top of the birdhouse.

Draco sighed once more, lifting up and releasing Luna from his grasp. She made a little noise, snuggling into the pillow underneath her. Draco smiled at the sight.

Luna's one eye opened, peering at him. "How'd you sleep, Draco?"

"I slept wonderfully, thank you, Luna." Draco's deprivation of sleep had made him angry and agitated, but now he's more content; happier than he has been in a while.

And Draco seems to be spending all of his happiness on the girl in front of him.

He almost growled at himself. No, not Loony Lovegood! Go spend time with Anastasia or someone else! Just not Luna!

But Draco couldn't help it. Almost everyone else would judge him for the ugly mark on his left arm, everyone but Luna.

Unintentionally, his hand went to touch his magic tattoo, gone gray by the death of the Dark Lord. Luna seemed to have noticed.

She sat up slowly. "Are you alright?"

Draco pulled his arm back. "I'm fine," he said in a clipped tone.

He pulled himself out of bed, taking off his short-sleeved and exchanging it for a long-sleeved, button down from a hanger; the rest of his uniform neatly folded on his dresser within the closet.

"I guess I'll be heading to my room to get changed," said a small voice behind him.

Draco turned to speak, but his words were caught in his throat by the sight in front of him. The dainty, little girl was clothed in his large gray sweatshirt, and it covered her whale shorts, making it seem as if she had no pants on.

Oh, Merlin.

Draco had to look away, his hands shaking as he grabbed his Slytherin tie. He was trembling terribly, attempting to put it around his gulping neck.

"Y-Yeah, yo-you go do that," Draco replied, his voice strained.

"Draco?"

He turned against his will, although a little too eagerly. "Yes?"

Luna smiled gently. "Do you want your shirt back?"

Draco didn't want to ruin the illusion that she was clothed under his sweatshirt, though. So instead he said, "Nah, you can keep it."
