Chapter Eight
Draco sighed. Class had finally stopped, and he was itching for his next two free periods. Adrenaline coursed through his hands as he rushed to pack up his things.
"Remember, if you're in the first class, I want a whole scroll of parchment on magical enhancement in anatomy once exposed to magical treatments by Wednesday," Professor Flitwick squeaked, trying to notify the students leaving the room.
Draco shut his bag; he was done putting away his things. With a sigh and his bang slung over his shoulder, Draco stood to leave.
"Er, Draco?" His head snapped to the left where Professor Flitwick stood.
"Yes, Professor?" asked Draco.
Professor Flitwick looked very nervous to be in Draco's presence. "Y-You've done exceedingly w-well in my cl-class. I was p-pondering the p-p-possibility of giving you th-the end-of-the-year exam n-no-ow."
Draco beamed. "Are you serious?"
Professor Flitwick smiled. He seemed to ease a bit of tension. "Of course. If you get an E on your essay, I'll give you the exam on Monday, next week."
Draco grew a wide smile. "I'll work my hardest. Goodbye, Professor."
Professor Flitwick returned his smile. "Goodbye, Draco."
Draco headed out of the classroom to the courtyard. He didn't feel as tired, anymore. With a new spring in his step, he made his way to Willy, who casted a cool shade against the warm sun beams.
Plopping down, Draco pulled out his scroll of parchment, his quill, and a navy blue bottle of ink.
He started writing about basics such as extra strength in a muscle that was magically mended after being torn or not being sunburned after cured of skin cancer. The scroll progressively filled with little words, all contributing to the length of the parchment.
By the time his second free period had started, Draco had three-quarters of the scroll finished.
"Hello, Draco," a soft voice said. "Enjoying Willy?"
Draco looked up to find Luna smiling kindly down to him. His lips twitched into a smile. Suddenly, the jealously of this morning vaporised.
"Hi, Luna," he replied, his voice slightly above a whisper. "And, yeah, I am."
Luna sat down next to him. "What are you writing?"
She peered over his shoulder, only her nose and eyes showing. Luna looks curious and extremely adorable at the same time, Draco thought. Then he thought about why he thought that.
Instead of pondering more, he answered her. "A scroll about magical things that happen to the body after being healed by a spell or a charm or a potion."
Luna's eyebrows raised. "You have a lot of writing down. I'm sure Professor Flitwick didn't mean for you to write that much. He's very lenient when it comes to essays."
Draco chuckled. "No, it's fine. I'm trying to get an E on this, and I kind of like the writing. It's very calming."
Luna giggled. "I like writing, also, but my hand would become uncomfortable after a while."
Draco nodded in agreement. "Yeah, my hand cramped up a little while ago."
Luna was quiet and content, reading Draco's essay as he wrote. Then she spoke up and asked, "Why are you writing about potions? Isn't this a Charms essay?"
Draco nodded, taking a break from writing. "I take Charms for two periods. My first class is based around medical studies My second NEWT Charms class is purely perfecting advanced charms. Professor Flitwick said that if I get an E on this essay, I don't have to take the first class anymore."
