Chapter Two
Luna pulled her cloak towards her a bit more closely as she pushed her trolley forward. She would much rather just whip out her wand and magically carry her stuff, but for right now, she had to act like a normal muggle.
Her curious blue eyes looked all around as she tried to examine anything new with King's Cross. Nope, nothing. There were different people and maybe even a little dirtier, but it was still good ole King's Cross Train Station.
Right between the barriers of 9 and 10, Luna got set to casually walk through. Of course she didn't want anyone to notice, though.
"Hello, pretty lady," purred an older man with a tan suit on. His greasy eyebrows wriggled as he examined Luna. It wasn't a curious examination.
But still, Luna smiled politely. "Hello."
His hand reached out and grabbed her forearm. "Well, aren't you a beaut?"
Luna winced as his hand grew tighter, and her smile faded away. "Please, let go, you are hurting me."
This made his grip tighten. "What's a pretty lady like you doing out here alone? Something could..." He leaned in to her ear and whispered, "Happen to you."
Luna gulped as tears welled up in her eyes. She would get in serious trouble with the Ministry if she used her wand on not only a muggle, but in a muggle-filled place.
"She isn't alone, and I suggest you let go of her," a voice of authority said behind them. The man looked over annoyed, and then loosened his grip slightly. Luna dared a glance, and she almost gasped.
Her savior was Draco Malfoy.
Oh, Merlin. Anyone but Draco Malfoy! She doesn't want to owe him any debts.
"What are you going to do about it, huh?" The man tried to intimidate Draco, but Draco was a good eight inches taller than him. That put her at about ten shorter, too.
"I am her fiancé, so I suggest that you let go of her before I am forced to contact the authorities." Draco's eyes turned to an intimidating dark gray.
The man reluctantly let go of her and glared. Then he took off after a confused brunette. Men.
Luna rubbed her arm tenderly, and imagined the pain her arm would be in tomorrow. "Thank you, Draco," she said, not daring to look in his eyes.
"Don't mention it, ever. I need you alive and at Hogwarts." Luna's eyes widened. Draco Malfoy, her long life bully, wanted her at Hogwarts?
"Really?" asked Luna, peering up at him. This was the first time that Draco Malfoy was actually being kind to her, not to mention just possibly saved her life.
He rolled his eyes, "You're Head Girl, you dumb Ravenclaw."
Luna let out a soft, "Oh," and quickly walked through the platform 9&3/4 with her trolley. Even though her pace was rushed, it was about a good fifteen minutes before the train actually left.
Luna found a nice compartment without anyone in it, and sat down. Taking off her cloak, she pulled out a book called Pride and Prejudice and started to read.
'So what do you recommend to encourage affection?'
Luna smiled at the cuteness of Mr. Darcy, even if she didn't like the arrogant character that much. He could have his good days.
'Dancing.'
Luna smiled once again, but not at Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth was easily one of her favorite characters - after her father, of course. Elizabeth's father showed the best love for Elizabeth's decisions and sometimes even agreed with her. He almost reminded her of her own father.
