Chapter Four
Luna's cloak was secured safely around her as she marched up the stairs to the Clock Tower. Kale Nightlake should be waiting for her. Once she arrived at the top of the tower, she didn't see anyone.
The clock struck seven and Luna turned around.
Oh, must've been a fraud note, I guess... Luna thought sadly.
She started to head back down the stairs when a loud voice stopped her. "Wait! Luna, where are you going?"
She turned to be met by Kale Nightlake, or so she thought. The little boy had grown into a man - a handsome one, at that.
Luna blinked. "I thought no one was up here. I'm very sorry, I didn't see you."
He smiled kindly, holding out his hand for her. "Well, I am. Care to join me?"
She took his hand gingerly. Luna hadn't been given this amount of kindness since Harry and Ron saved her from the Malfoy Manor.
Kale led her back up the stairs into the tower. "You're a lot different than I remember you, Luna."
Luna spoke back quickly, "That's much to say, coming from yourself, Kale."
He laughed, looking back at her. They had reached the tower again. "Let's just say that puberty works in magical ways."
Luna allowed herself to giggle a bit more than usual at his joke. It has been a while since she laughed at something so sincerely.
Kale had changed a lot, though.
His hair had become a great deal darker brown than his original mocha colour. The shade did his dark hazel-green eyes nicely, making them stand out a bit more.
The almond shape of his eyes accented his skinny, pointed nose that looked a bit crooked, as if he broke it - maybe during the War. And his lips were shaded by a little bit of stubble, looking like he shaved the morning before, but not the morn of the current day.
Not to mention that he was a great deal taller than her, also. He stood half a foot taller than her, and Luna couldn't help but notice that Draco was taller than him.
Luna sighed.
"What's wrong, Luna?" Kale asked in concern.
She shrugged. "I was just thinking about my roommate."
"That Malfoy kid?" he spit.
Luna looked up into his eyes curiously. "Why do you speak so unkindly of him?"
He chuckled, his demeanour becoming playful and fun again. "I'm not so fond of him."
Luna's lips twitched into a small smile. "Mind if I ask, why?"
He turned, latching his arm in hers as they walked slowly. "My older sister was tortured for information, and spent several months in St. Mungo's Hospital. We had to wait until after the War, so she was out of it until we got her help."
Luna's heart gave a painful pang at Kale's dilemma.
"What about you, Luna? Any horror stories about the Malfoy boy for you?"
Luna thought for a moment. "Other than him calling me Loony on a daily basis?"
She laughed lightly, but Kale didn't.
"That's terrible, Luna. Don't let him treat you like that."
Luna felt bad, she didn't mean to make Draco look mean.
