Chapter Three

It has been about three weeks since Luna has gotten to Hogwarts. She is nicely settled in the Head Girl and Boy dormitory that was optional to live in. Luna chose it because it was cozy, and she thought that Draco wouldn't be joining her.

She was wrong.

Draco also settled nicely, in the dormitory with her in the room next to her. This didn't bother Luna at all, it's just that Draco would surely pester Luna with names and such. And he did.

He never addressed her as anything but Loony and Lovegood. It didn't bother Luna all that much, considering most people called her Loony anyway.

They often get into arguments that Luna somehow is blamed for. Two times, already, has Luna went to the Ravenclaw common room and slept on one of the couches by the fire.

It saddened Luna that she couldn't even be comfortable in her own bed in her own dormitory, all because of an annoying blonde boy.

Luna's duties as Head Girl weren't as time consuming and exhausting as she thought they'd be. She only had to patrol for an hour after bed time on Fridays, which she was perfectly fine with. It's just that Draco had the same schedule as her.

It also doesn't help that Neville, one of her closest friends, wasn't here anymore to be her friend. Ginny was here, but they have grown apart after the war. She had Harry now, and Luna didn't even have her dad.

Hermione would often say hello to Luna in the hallways, or even give her a small smile when their eyes meet. But that was it. Nothing more. Hermione had been trying to lay low ever since the war, not liking the attention brought into her for being a close friend of the Boy Who Lived.

Luna was also known for being a friend of Harry's, but not as popular as others - Ron, George, Ginny, Neville...

Oh, Luna missed Neville dearly. He was so kind to her, well, not always. Even when he was slightly awkward in socialising, Luna admired him.

He's got Hannah, now, Luna thought sadly.

Marching up to the owlery, Luna clutched her navy blue cloak closer to her. The wind was picking up, making a bitter breeze on her skin.

When she finally got to the owlery, she sat down with her back against the wall. The breeze couldn't reach her, and she pulled out her book and an apple from the kitchens. She was almost finished with Pride and Prejudice, now.

Taking a bite of her apple, she continued to read from her marked page.

A large, grey owl that belonged to the school nuzzled up to her. She broke off a piece of apple him, and then realised he held a note for her.

Trading him the piece of apple for the letter, they made a swap. While he happily munched on his apple, she opened the ripped parchment.

Dear Luna Lovegood,
I've noticed that you're a bit sad when you've come to stay at the Ravenclaw Tower. Will you meet me at the Clock Tower tonight after dinner, at seven?
Sincerely, Kale N.

Kale Nightlake? Luna wondered. He was in Luna's year, a quiet, lonesome Ravenclaw.

Sort of like her.

Luna sighed, pulling out a quill and ink. She replied, Of course, below his writing, signed by her. She gave it back to the owl, who flew off to deliver the message.

Deciding to head back to her dorm to spend the rest of her Saturday in peace, she placed all of her things in her bag and strode off, leaving the rest of the apple for hungry owls.

Luna walked quietly in the halls, smiling at people who either catch her eye or smile to her first. Some people did not smile back.

When she got to the dorm, Luna didn't know what to expect, other than Draco being at lunch. He wasn't. No, Draco was sitting on the couch in front of the fire, sewing.

He glanced up at her, then went back to his project. "Why aren't you at lunch?"

She set her bag on the coat rack hook. "I could ask you the same thing, Draco Malfoy."

Draco set down the item of clothing, which she found to be his new Hogwarts robe. Luna peered at a rip in the sleeve curiously.

"I was taking a walk through the courtyard when a tree snagged my robe sleeve. I tried to use a sewing spell, but for some reason, it made the hole bigger," Draco told her, peering down at the rip as well.

Luna pulled her wand from her ear. "You probably used the seam-loosening spell. You need the seam-fixing spell."

She raised her wand and muttered the spell, fixing Draco's poorly sewn rip. "I had to use it a lot, considering people thought it would be funny to unravel my socks so that only string comforted my feet. It was a mean joke, really."

Draco lifted up his robe, inspecting the arm. He ran his fingers over the newly patched fabric. It looked as if it had never been ripped. "Th-Thank you, Luna."

Luna. She smiled at him as she turned her direction to her room, twirling her wand among her fingers.

"You never answered my question, Lovegood."

Lovegood. She sighed, turning around. "I thought I could grab a few hours to myself, considering you would be at lunch."

Draco's eyebrows furrowed. "So you're not going to eat?"

She smiled kindly, his concern for her catching Luna off-guard. "I had an apple earlier."

With that, she turned back and walked into her room. Draco was left to wonder about her. An apple? How does that make up for lunch?

Little did he know that most of the apple went to an owl.
