Part One Isabelle

Pastel glitter and brightly colored eggs decorated the entire Institute and Isabelle knew it was even worse outside on the streets of New York. One of these days, Isabelle might seriously consider burning this holiday. Despite how illogical that may seem. Maryse and Alec were in the foyer talking about plans for the Easter day party- a plan Alec had some how talked their mom into doing. It wasn't that she hated the holiday, it was actually the complete opposite. She loved Easter, gorgeous dresses, high heeled sandals, bright colors, the caring nature from everyone it was a great time for a lot of people. Sadly, today is just not Isabelle's day. It was only 8:30 am and Jace has already aggravated her passed her tolerance point.

It was all really ridiculous and Isabelle knew that, but she didn't really want to see reason, she just wanted a reason to be angry on such a nice day. Twice Jace had locked her in the supply room full of camping supplies. Before Isabelle reached the the foyer, Jace decided to somehow change her door to lock from the outside instead of the inside. So she spent the next 30 minutes yelling at Jace to fix her door and to leave her alone.

After waiting fifteen minutes for Jace to fix her lock and then five more minutes for her to make sure he fixed them properly, Isabelle exited the Institute. She ignored when Alec and her mom called out to her, asking her where she was going. Isabelle didn't want to talk to them, she was already late. Rushing down the cobbled stone steps, Isabelle pulled the hair tie off her wrist and hurriedly pulled her hair into a sloppy ponytail, just to get the hair out of her face.

She pushed open the iron gates and made her way down the sidewalk, dodging the brightly colored streamers that decorated the branches and were now flapping in the light breeze. Zipped quickly though the crowd and pushed the bystanders out of her way to get to the coffee shop Simon had agreed to meet her at. A scream stopped Isabelle's advancement to the shop, she was so close, so very close.

Sighing, Isabelle started off in the direction of the scream. At first she went slowly then broke into a run when more people started screaming. The terror in their voices were evident and Isabelle couldn't just ignore it. Fighting against the crowd, that was running away from the incident, she struggled to get a good look of what was happening up ahead. Getting sick of fighting the current, Isabelle veered left towards a small book shop, that just so happens to have a balcony above it.

Scribbling an Agility rune onto her bare arm, Isabelle jumped up onto a near by table before swiftly gripping the railing of the balcony. She hauled herself over the iron bars without much strain. Some of her black hair came loose from the slipping ponytail. Tightening the hair band around her hair, she fixed her hair out of her face while scanning the scene in front of her.

It was chaos. Utter chaos. Blood was splattered everywhere, on the street, the shops, and even the people running from the scene. There was a group of people standing in the center of the chaos, they were the same strangers who killed Emma Carstairs' parents. Isabelle would be an idiot to attack them alone. Quickly drawing a glamour rune, Isabelle hoped to draw less attention to herself around the mortals. Crouching down behind the bars she observed the events unfolding before her with a keen eye. A flash caught her eyes.

She gazed in the direction of where she thought the flash had echoed from. The building behind the killers in the center. Simon and Jace were crouched on the slanted roof of a antique shop. Isabelle nodded her head to let them know she sees them. Simon nodded back. Jace pointed down at the center. Isabelle shook her head, letting Jace know that whatever he was thinking was a stupid idea. Apparently Jace thought she was still mad at him, which she was, so he went ahead a caused a diversion. He jumped off the roof and threw a few ninja stars at them. The stars bounced clean off their backs, at least from what Isabelle could see.

Launching herself over the railing right when all of the men turned to look at Jace, or when Isabelle thought they had all turned, she looked for a way to help Jace. Unfortunately a few spotted her and Isabelle had seconds to get out her whip to deflect the first arrow that threatened to pierce her heart. Pulling out her knife that was hidden in her thigh high heels, she readied herself for close-up combat.

Lashing out with her whip the electric current crackled through the damp air. Isabelle was careful not to step in a puddle from the light drizzle that had happened at 3am. The men fighting her were taking notice once one man stepped in a rather large puddle. He was out of hitting range for the whip, but the puddle wasn't. Arrows and stars were starting to be used at an unnaturally fast pace, even for shadowhunters, and Isabelle couldn't deflect all of them. Her skin burned as two stars grazed her arms. Isabelle was getting surrounded and her agility rune, the only thing keeping her alive, was starting to fade.

Panic was crawling up her spine and into her brain. 'Focus.' Isabelle thought. She took a deep breath scanning her surroundings for anything to use as leverage. Jace and Simon were occupied by their own onslaught of men, so they couldn't help her. Alec was nowhere to be seen. Isabelle wasn't even sure if he was here in the first place. A metal ball rolled up to Isabelle. Stupidly, she just looked at it. Smoke started coming out of it, too late Isabelle realize it was poisonous.

(Weird PoV and Writing Style Change Sorry).

After Jace jumped down and more people than he intended turned to him. I saw Isabelle flip over the railing gracefully. Figuring I should probably go and help them, I slid down the roof landing softly on the ground behind Jace. Jace's sword came at me, catching his wrist I yelled,

"Watch it Blondie. I'm on your side remember?"

"Keep in your lane Nightshade and maybe we won't have this problem." Jace retorted. Saying my new last name instead of my first. I rolled my eyes and dodged a few arrows coming at me from the roofs.

"Up top." I said to Jace moving to his left.
"I see them. Instead of telling me why don't you take them down?" He replied, busy with fighting three men. 'It was hardly fair, three to one. They're creamed.' The thoughts flashed through my line of focus, before I laughed at Jace's remark to me. He was always like this when we fought together.

Putting my sword in the sheath I quickly fired three arrows at the three men up top. Wounding or stunning them for a few moments. Giving me enough time to take them down completely, but with the previous battle with one of them it was going to take a lot more than demon blood covered arrow tips to hurt them.

I could feel my runes weakening. I wasn't going to last much longer. I could tell from a few quick glances at Jace that he wasn't going to either. In the heat of the battle they all just stopped. Jace and I stood ready and then they vanished. Poof, gone.

"What??" Jace said raising an eyebrow spinning in a circle. They were all gone. Except for one.

Jace quickly went over to see if they guy they left behind was alive or not. Jace bent over him while I surveyed the damage. Sure there was blood and broken pieces of tables and glass everywhere, but other than that it seemed like no mortals were injured.

The word mortal still felt weird to think or even say. Something clicked in my brain. Doing a 360, I scanned the area again.

"Isabelle?" I called out to her. In my peripheral I saw Jace look up. His expression went from satisfied to complete and utter terror. I looked around again. She had to be here. My palms were starting to sweat on the handle of my blade.

"ISABELLE?!" I yelled. Looking at the roofs. I jogged around the area of combat looking in every window. The air felt cold on my clammy skin. My pulse was racing. I couldn't find her. I stopped by the small book shop. Starring in horror at what I saw on the ground. My hands were shaking as I bent down to pick up the object. It's electricity still crackling though it. I clicked the bottom of the handle to turn off the electric current.

I slowly turned around to face Jace, his blonde hair was plastered to his forehead.

"She's gone." I croaked. Jace's fist slammed into the man's chest. The guy groaned, but before he could do any other movements, Jace wrapped him up in binding wire made of electrum.

"Where is she?!" Jace demanded, but the guy didn't say anything else only glared at Jace with pure hatred in his eyes. If looks could kill Jace would be dead. Actually, Jace would have been dead a long time ago if looks could kill.
