Chapter 7

Laney's POV
As I'm walking towards the pizza counter. I hear a familiar voice and the blood in my vein completely turns ice cold. No there's no way that she is here. I quickly glance around the restaurant and that's when I see her. Sitting at the bar yelling at whatever's on the tv screen. No why would they bring me here. They're gonna make me go back. But they promised that they wouldn't. It was all a lie. They tricked me! I start to pull back on Jane's arm hoping that she will stop but she just pulls me closer to her. I began pulling back harder on her arm and she stop to take a look around the restaurant and that's when I completely freak out.

"NO NO NO MORE PWEASE JANIE YOU SAY NO MORE MEAN MAMA! I no wanna go back pwease I be good"

"Laney baby girl shhh it's okay. No one is gonna hurt you I promise." She tries to calm me down but doesn't work.

Out the corner of my eye I see Jenn looking at us and I bolt. Running as fast I can I keep running paying no attention to where I was going until it was too late. I see a car headed towards me honking its horn but before it hits me I feel strong arms wrap around and pull me away just in time.

"Laney. What were you thinking!? Are you okay?" Jane asks me while still trying to catch her breath

"NO!! LET ME GO!! YOU PWOMISED, YOU PWOMISED THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO GO BACK. BUT YOU LIED." I began fighting the strong hold that she has on me but it was no use, she was so much more stronger than me. So I stopped fighting and began sobbing into her arms.

"Ja-nie pwe-ease I no wanna go back pwease. I wanna stay wif you!" at this point I'm sobbing uncontrollably. I feel Jane lift me into her arms and hold me tight whispering shh and its all gonna be okay into my ear but I just cant make the tear stop.

Maura POV
I'm sitting out in the car nodding my head to music patiently waiting for Jane and Laney to grab the food. Im thinking about today's current event. I mean it's a lot to take in. So I try to rationally go over everything that has happened.

One minute I'm trying to get my wife the much needed rest and food that she needs, to finding this adorable little that is in need of help. Then also getting Laney to agree to let us help her and also getting her to agree to be our little.

I'm startled out of my thoughts as I see Laney bolting out of the restaurant and heading in the opposite direction as the car. She looks terrified.

Next I see my wife chasing after the terrified girl, I quickly unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of the car. What in the world is going on? As I get out of the car to follow my wife and Laney I see another women leaving the bar immediately after walking rather briskly in the opposite direction as them. I quickly head into the direction I saw both Jane and Laney running towards. I get there just in time to see Jane grabbing Laney right before she gets hit by a speeding car.

I hear Jane scared voice asking Laney was she okay and I see Laney struggling to get out of Jane's hold while screaming at her to let her go, then Laney just breaks down completely sobbing asking Jane to stay with her.

"Oh my goodness Jane are you guys okay? What happened? Laney sweetheart why did you run away?" I fire question after question at them both but I get no response but heartbreaking sobs from Laney. I look up at my wife and she just shakes her head and slowly starts heading back to the car.

We walk back to car in silence except for the sniffles and hiccups occasionally coming from Laney. As we reach the car Jane climbs in the back seat while still holding the distraught little girl. I hear her softly comforting Laney telling her something but I can't understand what she is saying. Then I see Jane laying Laney down in the backseat so she can exit the car.
