follow you - bring me the horizon

For the next few hours, I try to push down the worries of what comes tomorrow away from me. I watch the adoration on Jesse's face as he looks at Priya and I watch the way she's twirling around and laughing, trying to memorize every single thing. I watch Hero and the way he never looked as calm as now. His face doesn't have this hard expression I was so used to, he looked like, for once in his life, he's not worrying. I try to burn these images in my mind because I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was going to happen and I would have to enjoy these moments as long as they lasted.
Finally, as prom winds down, Priya pulls me aside, looking into my eyes as she presses something in the palm of my hand.
"I have a surprise for you." She says, a smile playing on her lips. "I'd gotten us a suite upstairs so we could crash here tonight but I want you and Hero to have it." I raise an eyebrow at her but couldn't help the smile forming on my own face.
"Really? You're sure?" I ask and she laughs, nodding.
"Yeah, duh. You can end the perfect night together. Besides, I'm going over to Jesse's." Priya looks over to him, talking with Hero. "We have some catching up to do." She adds and just then I catch his eye across the room, and he gives me a little salute.
"Thanks, Pri." I say and my best friend squeezes me in a tight hug.
After we say our goodbyes, I lead Hero up to the hotel room that Priya gave me the key for. He lets out a small whistle as the two of us step inside.
"Remind me to thank Priya later." He says and I let out a small chuckle as I take in the small but very nice room.
"I will." I say and Hero pulls me into his arms, smiling down at me. We sway here together, the music from tonight replaying over in our heads. "How did I survive before I knew you?" I whisper and Hero chuckles, shrugging. I could feel his heartbeat, steady and strong from how close we were standing and my heart leaped as I looked at him.
"I honestly do not know." He says and I sneak my hands up to run my fingertips through the hair on the nape of his neck.
"Tonight has been perfect." I say after a few quiet moments and Hero brings his face down to press a light kiss to the side of my neck, his breath tickling my skin.
"Yeah? I can think of a couple of ways to make it better." He says and I slap his shoulder playfully. "I was talking about room service. Get your mind out of the gutter." He says and I throw my head back and laugh, feeling lighter than I have in a long time. He reaches up to graze my cheek. "I was a fool to think I could stay away from you, Jo." He says, his voice now more serious as his eyes wander over my face as if he was afraid I would disappear right in front of him.
"I don't want you to stay away. You mean so much to me." I say, meaning every word and Hero's lips twitch in a small smile, his hand now on my neck and it made my knees weak.
"It's more than that, though. What I feel for you... it's more than that." He says, a small frown now on his face as his eyes finally look into mine. "I already told you how I feel. I love you, Josephine." He says and I blink at him a few times. The first time he said it was just after I found out about how he used me to get to my dad. And even though my heart soared when he had said it, I was much too hurt to fully register it. But now, in this hotel room where it was just us, no crew, no job, it felt real. I didn't even have to think about the next words slipping out of my mouth.
"I love you too." I breathe out and Hero's eyes widen for a fragment of a second before a grin spreads over his face.
"Say it again." He says and I laugh, wrapping both of my arms around his neck.
