"and that's when i found out jade told the whole school i had an std" beck sighed sitting down next to andre in the first period of the next day. andre looked over at him,
"wait. you don't have an std?" he teased beck, as he playfully got hit over the head by beck who laughed along with him.
"i'm serious dude now no girl in this school will ever go out with me" he whined slumping down in his chair once again. andre sighed,
"i'll tell you what man, ryn is an old family friend of mine. i'll talk to her tell her it was a rumor and try to get her to talk to you again. but that's the best i can do" he proposed and beck smiled at him, thanking him repeatedly as the bell rang and their class started.
right before lunch beck stopped ryn in the hallway once again, looking around to make sure jade wasn't around anywhere.
"hey!" he smiled at her and she seemed to actually smile back this time.
"hi beck!" she responded. she leaned in closer to him quickly,
"andre talked to me about jade and i'm sorry. really." she apologized as he nodded in acknowledgment.
ryn was kind of taller. taller then the normal girl but not nearly as tall as beck, maybe around 5'6 ish beck would guess. she was pale and had light chestnut brown hair that fell down to her stomach. she was at hollywood arts for dancing, and she was definitely one of the best dancers that went there. she didn't have much of an opinion on anything and her main personality trait was being nice. but that was exactly what beck needed right now, someone easy and nice, even if he didn't want that.
"it's ok jade can be psychotic" he joked back as she smiled sweetly at him.
"my offer from yesterday still stands, if you want to go out with me i'm still up for it if you are?" he asked once again, flashing her a charming smile as her eyebrows furrowed. she shifted below her feet,
"beck you are beyond handsome and i'm sure you are very since, but..." she replied.
"but.." he repeated quietly under his breath.
"i'm sorry but i don't see you like that. and if we are being honest i've liked andre for a while now, and i was trying to do something about that too." she smiled at the end biting down on her lower lip.
"andre? oh my god ya you should totally go for that" beck supported her. there were still other girls, and he didn't need ryn. but the more he thought about it, he could use her.
"i could but in a good word for you with andre..." he began to say and her face immediately lit up.
"but i'm gonna need something from you" he continued, a mischievous look in his eye as he looked her up and down. as nice as she was, and maybe a pushover too, she looked like she could handle the task he was about to give her.
"anything" she shrugged, oblivious to the bet beck and jade had going. he explained it to her and she giggled at it, raising her eyebrows and commenting on the foolishness of the situation.
"so why do you need me?" she asked again. he took a deep breath,
"i need you to lead on jade" he sighed trying to read her very shocked facial expression.
"jade? as in the jade that has tried to scissor almost every kid in this school?" her mouth hung open.
"that's the one" beck replied softly a sorrowful smile on his lips. she sighed heavily, like she was thinking about it.
"but beck i'm straight" she protested.
"no no that's fine, you don't have to do anything just lead her on." he assured her.
"fine. but only if you get andre to ask me out." she gave in and beck clapped his hands together quietly.
"she'll be desperate for anyone. so just flirt with her and make sure she thinks she's gonna get you. she likes scary movies, scissors, and dark clothes." beck informed ryn as she mentally noted these things.
to say the least ryn was about the opposite of jade. she was nice to everyone, kind at all times, a very positive person, and was colorful. she had always disliked jade for her cruel antics, and never even saw herself talking to jade ever. she frantically tried to plan out how she was going to approach jade as she waited near her locker after lunch.
she watched jade turn the corner and storm to her locker, taking a deep breath and getting ready to get yelled at, punched, or worse. ryn gained some flicker of courage and walked up behind jade.
"hi um jade" she stuttered and jade turned around to look the poor girl up and down, one eyebrow raised.
"hi?" she responded shortly watching ryn tug her hair behind her hair nervously.
"i'm ryn-"
"i know who you are" jade finished cutting her off. ryn swallowed hard.
"you're hair is really pretty, i love that color blue" ryn stammered, but a tad more confidently. jade looked at the brunette skeptically, her eyes darting around the halls searching for beck. when she realized no one was looking at them her face softened.
"thanks. i guess you are kinda pretty too" jade mustered to say. this was killing her. of all the girls at hollywood arts that could've come up to her it was sunshine and rainbows ryn. it took all her courage not to walk away and slam her locker. she hadn't lied though, ryn was pretty, but not in that way to jade. but jade had to win and so far she had struck out with girls all day yesterday. so she had to be nice.
"um i have to go to lunch but i'll see you around i guess!" ryn smiled at jade who raised her eyebrows back as she walked away. and as she walked down the halls jade noticed ryns hand was shaking. even though that girl could act with her face, both of her hands were trembling and jade watched her until she lost her in the crowds.
ryn might be jades only choice for a girlfriend, and she needed one fast. at least before beck got one, and she knew almost every person with eyes at hollywood arts would kill to date beck. she wasn't as much on display.
so she sighed, slamming her locker and coming out of spacing out to see beck standing in front of her locker.
"what?! what could you possibly want now!?" she whined at him as he smiled at her.
"just wanted to know how you were doing. gotta scout out the competition." he laughed at his own joke but she didn't even smile.
"jeez wow ok don't tell me. just be ready to loose" he teased as she shifted her weight to the other foot.
"and why's that?" she replied biting on her bottom lip. he smiled on the inside. she only bit her lip when she was nervous. he knew that from the years before.
"you won't tell me so i won't tell you" he shrugged and she rolled her eyes.
"are you six years old?" she mocked him and he smiled in response. satisfied that he had gotten an annoyed reaction out of her.
"i'm just saying you're not the best at loosing like that one time when-" beck tried to say.
"HEY HEY ok you promised never to talk about that" she interrupted him, concealing her smile. he laughed at her, turning to walk away and throwing his hand up to wave.
"mhm" she replied when he said bye and walked away. throwing her backpack over her shoulder and laughing to herself at the story only her and beck knew.
they had swore never to talk about that again.
but it was still funny.
just to them.
