Obi----
The sound of the windows shattering distracts me enough for Reim to break free from my grip. That's just great. I hadn't fully intended on coming into the open but instead of simply threatening her for information, Reim was going to kill her to send a warning. I couldn't let that happen. I don't know why the lackies were hiding since they were simply looking for answers from her, but it's making things just that much more complicated. Kitty and Arowen both are fighting off the newcomers from what I could tell last time I looked up. Thankfully neither girl is incapable of defending themselves. I knock Reim aside in time to see Arowen's body being lifted over someone's shoulder. Kitty is backed against a far wall so she can't help her. I lunge toward Arowen but her captor and the others take off through the window, leaving me alone with Kitty.
"Are you kidding me?" She mutters slowly before rolling her shoulder and focusing on me. "You. You better fix this! If she dies because your intensely gross incompetence I will relocate my foot up your ass!"
I dodge her fist as she swings at me and I sigh. "You attacking me will help nothing I hope you realize!"
"Why the hell didn't you protect her? Oh, and good job watching as that creepy fucker threatened her. And don't you dare say you threw a dagger because it didn't do a damn thing!"
"Alright, alright. Relax, you're not helping."
"Do not tell me to relax, my best friend got dragged out a window because you pissed off Eiro! Eiro of all people... Dear God how much of an idiot are you!? Wait, what exactly were you doing here lurking in the shadows? You weren't going to hurt her, were you?" Her eyes narrow as she reaches for her sword again. "You weren't going to r-"
"No! What is it with you and your over-dramatic thoughts?" I scowl. "I- needed to talk to her."
"I know about the bounties on your heads. You were going to cash her in, weren't you? Use her life to save your own skin? That's rather selfish."
"She wants my bounty too." I shrug.
"Regardless, I currently hate you with every fiber of my being. Now, what do you owe Eiro and how do we pay him off before Arowen gets killed or worse?"
I hate this. I never imagined that Kitty the thief would be this annoying. I still haven't told her what I did to Eiro or how much was owed, but after securing the home the best we could, we're discussing plans to get her back. Sadly, the easiest way to get Eiro off my back is to just reveal to him who she is and how much she's worth and leave it there, but Kitty would murder me immediately. I could always ditch her somehow and let things run their course...
"Alright, thank you for your help but I've got it from here." I tell her, hoping I'll just be rid of her.
My hopes are dashed as she grabs me by the front of my shirt and slams me against the wall.
"Listen here you little cretin, don't think you can get rid of me so easily. Arowen is my best friend and the only reason I am here is because she asked for my help to protect you from Eiro, so don't you dare leave her hanging when she put her life on the line for you!"
"Wait, what? She asked you for help? Why?" I gently shove her away from me and adjust my shirt again.
I know she said she had things to do and that she wanted my bounty for herself, but I didn't think she'd go through the trouble of calling in someone else for help.
"Because she cares about you, Idiot."
I chuckle and shake my head. "Highly unlikely. I don't know if you're aware of it or not, but she and I aren't exactly on the best terms."
"Highly unlikely." She mimicks in a high pitched tone. "You're both idiots. Yes you absolutely hate each other and wish death on the other, yet you protected her from Reim twice without hesitation. You could have simply avoided making an appearance yet you didn't when her life was in danger. If she hated you as she claims, she would not have come to me for help. You're both just too bull-headed to pay attention to the truth."
"We cared about each other once upon a time when we were partners, but that's not the case anymore. We had a falling out and that's it."
"I don't buy it. Anyway, take me to Eiro's hangout, I know you have to know where it is or how to find it, so let's go."
"If you hadn't realized, I'm not exactly in the shape to be doing more fighting, especially since my pain medicines wore off."
"Fine, we'll stop off and drug you up again, then we're going to see Eiro. End of discussion."
I reluctantly follow Kitty through the village streets before she tugs me down an alley to the side door of an abandoned building. She knocks a code and shows a key to the slot in the door before it swings open to let us in. It reminds me of Safehaven but I'm not familiar with this place. There are a few people lounging around but she leads me straight to a counter at the back of the room and the man stationed behind it.
"Hello Darling." She purrs.
"Hello Miss Kit, what can I do for you?"
"This creep needs some pain killers, do you have anything strong but won't knock him in the dirt? We're rather busy today unfortunately."
After getting medicine from the man, she tells me I now owe her, but I shrug and swallow the pills before leading her back out into the village. Eiro's main hideaway is hidden in the forest a few miles outside of town. It won't take long to get there so I hope the effects kick in before. They won't kill Arowen, at least not right away. I figure I'm actually doing exactly what they want. They don't think I can pay up, so they're using her to lure me in. I'll be walking right into their trap but I won't be unprepared. If I save Arowen though, I'm back at square one. I won't be able to pay Eiro back. My only other option I'm not sure if I can pull off without risking mine, Kitty's, and Arowen's lives... I may have to kill Eiro.
