Hermione sat staring wide eyed into space of the Hufflepuff Common Room. The two decided they'd come here and went in silence. They didn't talk about what happened. They didn't talk about how they basically killed two people, even though they deserved it.

They didn't talk about anything Death Eater related, and Draco was glad.

As soon as they bursted into the Slytherin Common Room, he was struck with nervousness. He didn't want them to get a word in and tell him he had to join or come back.

He'd heard what the ridiculous Death Eaters would talk about in the shadows in public, and what they said in the papers.

They planned to break his father out of Azkaban and have him free. He didn't want that. He didn't want to see his father and those people who think they could break him out were dumb to even suggest it. His father wasn't that smart to escape.

So he shot the first spells at them, so he didn't have to hear it from them.

He sat cross legged in front of the fire staring into it, and Hermione lay down silently next to him, her head towards the fire and she looked up silently at the ceiling. She was hesitant at first to sit there next to him but she decided she wanted to, and nothing bad could happen right? And she was glad Draco was too distracted and didn't say anything about it.

"Malfoy." He turned to her slowly, a small frown on his face. "Why don't you continue that story?" He turned his head back to the fire.

"What story? Go read a book." He was still distracted in his thoughts. He was trying to dismiss her. He didn't want to tell her a story anymore.

"You know? The story of the boy who was abandoned on the side of the road?" She trailed off trying to have him remember.

"No, I don't think I told you a story like that. Actually, I'd never consider telling you a story."

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Please just continue it." She sounded fed up with him. He gave her a glare and moved his eyes to the floor in front of the fire.

"And at the school, he met all sorts of different, happy, and good children." He muttered in a low voice and she nodded eagerly. His eyes lit up at the sight of how eager she looked for him to just speak to her. What the hell?

"His first instinct was to cause trouble, and that was when he first met his enemy, the good person of the story, if you will.

She would stop him and would get praised by the teacher. He realised that he felt so alone and had no friends, so the next day when he came to school, he tried to make friends like she did, and he tried to win the class over with one of his machines."  She looked at him, an invested look on her face.

"But it went terribly wrong, and again, the girl saved the day, and their small school blew up. He was immediately taken back to the prison and had a few years sentence.

Before he was released, he spent his days thinking about what exactly he'd do when his sentence was over, and he finally decided he would do exactly what he was good at, being evil, causing trouble, and he vowed to take over the world, beating the girl in the process, maybe possibly killing her. But deep down he knew it wouldn't happen." He stretched his arms and went back to looking at her.

"Why didn't anyone help him fit in or something?" She raised her eyebrow.

"He was different than them and no one wanted to accept him. Fast forward; years later, the two are mortal enemies, and the girl and the boy still fight each other till this day. The boy tries to take over the world, taking it very very seriously, while the girl defends it, she thinks it's funny, a game, and doesn't take it seriously. They get into a routine, back and fourth fighting each other and almost killing each other, but never quite close to." He looked at her intently, his face was cold and it made her shiver.

"When finally, one day, he kills her."

There was a small pause and only the flickering of the fire was heard. And she finally broke the silence.

"That's kinda crazy. They went to school together and still remember each other and everything, and now they're enemies. And they've killed each other." She mumbled.

He rolled his eyes at her. "Wouldn't be hard to forget a person who blew up your school Granger."

"Whatever!" She hissed.

"A few weeks. He's now desperate. He's bored of the city and that he has no one to fight anymore. He should have been happy right? He finally achieved what he had wanted for years.. but he soon became unhappy. That is until, he decides that he will find a new enemy to fight. He'll train them and fight them, just to beat them again, for fun."

Hermione liked this story. It showed that being good was the answer, not evil. It showed the craziness and longing of some people. It was interesting.

"But during the process, he realises what he's done, slowly turning crazier and crazier with the thought of what'd he'd done. He turns himself in because of the guilt he feels, and now, he is back where he started." He finished and looked at her.

They stayed silent just looking at each other.

"You actually know good stories?" She chuckled.

"Believe it or not, I know a lot of things." He chuckled and got up to make himself comfortable on the couch. She got up and sat next to him.

He groaned. "Just because I told you a story doesn't mean you can sit next to me. You're still a..." He trailed off, stopping the next word from coming out of his mouth.

He inched away from her.

She looked at him disappointedly and got up to go sleep on another couch.

She stayed awake for most of the night just thinking.

She should stop trying to make friends and just try to survive. He had no intention of being nice to her, he was just trying to have her stop groaning from pain, he didn't actually care, and she shouldn't have cared either.

Draco rolled his eyes at her and he slept.

He didn't care about her, or anyone for that matter.

Maybe only Blaise and Theo, but they'd move on without Draco soon, while Draco just hid away in his house, with no one by his side. And he was okay with that.
