_In the car on the way to the hospital_
Meredith P.O.V
Staring out the window I though back to the first time he'd hit me. And forced himself on me. It was so unexpected that I didn't even realise it had happened
The day had started out so well, he was being all lovey dovey Mcvet, Izzie wouldn't shut up about how 'adorable' our relationship was. He had surprised me in the cafeteria at work with bouquet of white roses and I thought i loved him in that moment. Cristina being Cristina made gagging noises and 'exused herself to puke' but even my person couldn't break my mood.
I was going to take the rest to the day off sick to spend with Finn before i got paged to the pit for a trauma. He was understanding and said he'd see me at his place later.
Well that trauma turned out to be a huge subdural Hematoma and Derek let me scrub in on the surgery. 7 hours later I had collapsed on the bench in the interns locker room exhausted, it was touch and go for a while, the patient had coded twice on the table but he made it through. I completely forgot to call finn and cancel our plans because I was too tired. But I didn't have to, he was waiting for me in the hall of my house.
I remember him shouting and grabbing my arm as I tried to go upstairs to bed. I remember telling him to leave and I'd see him tomorrow and then I remember his hand colliding with my cheek.
I was so shocked it gave him time to pick me up and carry me upstairs to my bedroom before I had the chance to react.
The tears that stung in my eyes as I thought of the details of that night overflowed and ran down my face, but I couldn't let him see or he'd get mad. Luckily he was concentrating on the road and didn't see me dry my eyes.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I got out if the car and into the hospital foyer. This is the only place where I can forget about finn. This hospital is my safe heaven.
