It was late in the afternoon on my wedding day, and I stood at our bedroom window, overlooking the spacious gardens behind the dream house. It was a gorgeous day, with just a hint of clouds beginning to gather at the horizon. With any luck, the showers would hold off until after the ceremony.
I could hear the bustle of the incoming guests, their laughter floating up to my ears on the light breeze. We had planned for this outdoor ceremony, realizing showers could be a problem as always in Seattle, but taking our chances anyway. The white canopy was erected against a backdrop of mature oak trees, and pots of pale pink roses and orchids were in place around the perimeter. The caterers were setting up their tables, along with a small band for entertainment. It wasn't anything over the top extravagant, just enough to keep everyone entertained for awhile after the ceremony.

"Mama!" Shouted an excited 3 year old, running into the room

The twins were now 3 years old and more full of energy than ever.

"You so pitty mama" Lexie said, smiling up at me with her father's Mcdreamy smile

"Yeah mama, daddy gonna kiss youuu!!" Said Maddie, bounding in wearing a similar dress to her sister
"You think so?" I asked, bending down to kiss both my girls on the forehead

"MAMA! Auntie Amy say don't roooin your hair!!!" Lexie cried, running to the other side of the room to look in the mirror

I laughed at their antics. They had grown to be so much like their dad, both appearance and personality wise.  They had Derek's cheekbones, eyes and smile, but my hair and stubbornness.

Dereks sisters had spent time in the morning, winding white ribbons through greenery, and Callie and Cristina had set up chairs. We wanted to keep things fairly laid back, and even Alex and George were on hand, doing any of the last minute errands that were required. Derek had offered to help, but His sisters had banished him from the premises last night, saying it would be bad luck.

Flashback

"But it's my house…I mean, our house…" Derek pointed out last evening, as we all shared a late drink. Callie was sitting on the lounge chair on the patio, with  Arizona stretched out, her feet in his lap. Cristina was sitting at the edge of the pool, sipping her beer, while Alex and Bailey were leaning against cushions on the flagstone patio. Derek had me snuggled next to him in the redwood glider, and we exchanged an amused look after Lizzie's remark.
