It had been one month since Finn had sexually assaulted Meredith, and her and Derek were spending the night in the trailer. They did that a lot, Meredith not wanting to go back to her old house where she had so many bad memories. They had made plans to build their dream house on Derek's land, and the contractors had already laid the foundations.

"Meredith" said Finn
Meredith said Derek

She stood in the lobby of Seattle Grace hospital and looked between the two men calling her name.

She turned towards Derek and saw his eyes light up
"Meredith?" Said Finn

"I'm so sorry Derek" She said, watching his heart break right in front of her before turning around and walking towards Finn who smiled brightly as he took her arm.

Suddenly, his arm wasn't resting on her's, he was grabbing it, pulling her towards him and whispering
"Rose is a better fuck than you"
She turned around, searching for Derek, but when she saw him she burst into tears.

Derek was on top of Addison, they were both naked and he was plunging in and out of her.
"You disappointed me Meredith" Said Derek, before throwing his head back in pleasure.
Derek NO! She shouted, but nobody heard her.

Her voice was lost in the wind that suddenly surrounded her. Finn came charging out and started beating her, and her mom came out behind him

"MOMMY PLEASE!" She screamed. Ellis only shook her head and stared coldly at her
"Why would I help someone as ordinary as you?" She said before being swept away with the wind.

"Mer?" A voice shouted
"MER?" It shouted even louder

"MEREDITH!" She was snapped awake by Derek who was beside her, looking in her eyes with concern.

Meredith P.O.V

It had been a month. A whole freakin month since it happened and I still hadn't gone a night without a nightmare. Derek and I hadn't had sex, and i hadn't kissed him properly though he was being extremely patient and understanding. He was always there when I woke up from a nightmare, looking down on me in concern. He obviously hadn't slept in ages if the bags under his eyes were any indication.

I hadn't told him anything yet, about the abuse or the rape. He wanted to know, to help me, but he knew without asking that I wasn't ready to share. Derek never pushed me, but he didn't let me crawl into a shell of myself, and that made me love him even more.
Tonight was the same as every other, the same nightmare that ended with Derek shaking me awake; The same question he asked me every time 'Was it the same again?' And the same kiss on my forehead before he rolled on to his side to switch off the light before watching me fall back to sleep.
Instead of following my normal routine, I lay there on my back, staring up at the ceiling
"Mer what's wrong are you-"

"January 4th" I blurted out, my eyes still fixed on the ceiling.
"January 4th was the first day"

He knew not to say anything right now, and a gentle squeeze of my hand egged me to continue and reminded me he was still there.

"The day had started out so well, it was the day he surprised me in the cafeteria with a bouquet of roses. We had that huge subdural Hematoma with the 7 hour surgery do you remember?" I said, turning ny head dlighyky towards him.

He nodded "i remember, it was Missy Carlisle right?"

I nodded before continuing, trying to control the tears.
"I completely forgot to call finn and cancel our plans because I was too tired. But I didn't have to, he was waiting for me in the hall of my house."

Derek Squeezed my hand again and interlocked our fingers, sensing I had reached the real point of my story.

"I remember him shouting and grabbing my arm as I tried to go upstairs to bed. I remember telling him to leave and I'd see him tomorrow and then I remember him h-hit- he hit my c-cheek" I burst into tears and Derek tried to wrap me in his arms. I know it killed him to see me upset but I had to finish before I let him hold me

"Not yet Derek I have to tell you before I get too scared"

He rubbed my arm in understanding and looked at me to continue.
"He took me upstairs and told me he loved me and I believed him. We had sex but I didn't want to, it hurt because I was so dry but he didn't seem to notice."
I took a breath
It just got worse from then, every little thing I did, coming home late from the hospital, hanging out with my friends h-he would get really mad and hurt me. I thought me loved me at first because he would always apologise but in the last week he gave up apologising, and was just angry all the time. I wanted you so badly because you make me feel all safe and warm and gooey and I never stopped loving you."
I took a deep breath before turning to Derek, who was still listening intently, his eyes shining with unshed tears
"And I'm never gonna stop loving you EVER"
At this point Derek let the tears roll out of their ducts and flow down his face
"Because Derek I love you in a really really big, pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last peice of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window beautiful way that scares me kinda love you. I could never hate you." I finished, re-enacting my speech from the scrub room almost a year ago with a different and more truthful ending.

"I'm going to say something to you now. I should've said back then, but I made a huge mistake and I didn't sign the papers." He grabbed my other hand and pulled me so we were nose to nose.
"I pick you, I choose you, and Meredith Grey I love you"

I crashed my lips down onto his and I felt him hesitate before he kissed be back. It was the 1st time we had kissed since the hispital and i could tell he was surprised by my actions.
Me made out passionately for about a minute- not in the way that led to the quick removal of clothes, but desperately, like I was drowning and he was my oxygen, keeping me safe and alive. We eventually broke apart, sated and I snuggled into his chest.
"Goodnight Der I love you"
"Goodnight mer I love you too" Derek said, turning off the light.

However, someone watching from the outside wasn't happy to see this and slinked back into the woods behind the trailer without making a sound.
