A/N OK JUST IMAGINE Derek and the Cristina and Alex and Addison slow motion running like slamming the doors of the car and running into the house with Derek and Alex looking freakin sexy as fuck AND CHASING CARS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND AND LIKE CUTTING TO THEM GETTING HER INTO AN AMBULANCE THEN DEREK BREAKING DOWN ON HER FRONT PORCH AND CRISTINA AND ALEX CRYING AND- ok I'll stop now but JUST IMAGINE THAT WHILE YOU READ THE 1ST BIT lol

We do it all

I didn't even wait for the car to stop before I flung open the door and charged towards the house.

Everything

Cristina did the same and Addison jumped out a second later, after Alex hit the breaks.

On our own

Deciding there wasn't time for a key, Karev grabbed a stone and smashed the lock, shoving the door open so violently it probably felt it.

"MEREDITH" I screamed, running into the kitchen with Cristina behind me

We don't need

We heard echoes of the same desperate cry from Addie and Alex as they searched the rest of the downstairs.

Anything

Thundering footsteps charged up the stairs followed by a gutteral scream.

Or anyone

We raced into the hall as Addison cried from upstairs "Call 911 NOW!"

"I'm on it" Cristina replied, holding her phone to her ear, as the two of us sprinted up the stairs in a frenzy

If i lay here

The sight that greeted us ripped me apart at the seams- everything I knew, everything  I loved fell to peices; the solid wall I'd somehow managed to catch before I collapsed was the only thing keeping me grounded

If i just lay here

There, lying on the floor was my beating heart.

Vibrant blood ebbed and flowed down every small crevice that blessed her body, her skin could've been framed as artwork in that instance- violent brushstrokes of black, blue and purple swirled a floral design over every painful inch of her delicate person
Each stroke calculated, precise,
deadly.

I felt so numb.
Cristina's tearful voice on the phone, Addison's distant, distracted tone as she assessed the injuries, Alex's sobs. The sounds all melded together, mingling like giggly schoolgirls and creating an overwhelming hum of noise that I couldn't hear. Somehow, the silence that filled my ears felt more sinister than the event that had obviously occured only minutes prior.

I don't quite know

"Don't say it" Said Alex "Just don't say it coz that makes it real"

How to say

I knew what he meant- we all did. Nobody was planning on voicing it though. It was as though speaking if it would violate her further, take more from her than she'd already lost.

How I feel

Moments later, the paramedics rushed in, shouting orders and carefully lifting her onto a stretcher. They carried her downstairs, her featherweighted body making it easy, and into an ambulance.
