When I awoke the next day and all the girls had left for breakfast, I had climbed into my nearly empty trunk and pulled out of my mokeskin bag the book I had been searching for most. I dove into the words and was lost in time for a while. "Those who have had their memory's taken, altered, or erased would have side effects: If done wrong, could suffer brain damage. Foggy or unclear memories. Could chronically forget things.''

There is also a memory potion to enhance one's memory but it's highly unlikely with the spell Oblivate. Damn. The book goes on to introduce and practice of the spells but when I looked at my watch I was late for potions. I slid the book back into my bag and put my bag into the pocket of my robes. I pushed the lid of the trunk up and I rushed out. I rushed all the way to potions, I opened the door and Snape was writing something on the chalkboard. I took my usual seat and took out my potions book. "Ms. Black, is there a reason you were late to my class?" His voice rose a tad bit and other student's heads turned to look at me. "I... Was reading and lost track of time Professor Snape, I'm really sorry." I looked down at my lap expecting him to take house points or to ramble that I've disturbed his class in some way. "Don't let it happen again." Some of the students whispered to whoever they were sitting next to, probably about Snape's bizarre behavior.

"Today you are going to be taking notes, you are to study, study very hard. You will have exams coming up, so if you do not want to repeat this class I suggest you do as recommended. For homework I want you to write an essay on the subject material. I suppose the rest of your professors aren't taking it easy on you either. Rest assured we want to see you succeed. I mainly don't want any repeaters but I genuinely hope I've taught you, dunderheads, enough to pass." Snape grumbled in his usual monotone voice, the class groaned at how much homework we had. Studying and homework had been giving me headaches lately, I had lost motivation but I still managed to get it done and with flying colors too, it still hasn't been the same since the headmaster's disappearance.

Everybody still wasn't a fan of Umbridge except for most of Slytherin's house, I rolled my eyes. Suck ups. Everyone quietly read to themselves and Snape sat at his desk working on papers, his lips moved and he had a sour expression on his face. Unknowingly I watched his lips move until I shook myself for watching him. He looked up and I looked away, back at my book. He got up from his desk and paced around the room, looking down at everyone until he reached me. He leaned over my shoulder and his hot breath on my neck gave me goosebumps.

"Tut Tut Ms.Black Chapter one is unacceptable." He whispered in my ear and I parted my lips to say something but he moved back on to pacing. Draco threw a piece of balled-up parchment at me and turned back to his book. I unrolled it and it was a doodle of Snape kissing my cheek in the same bent-over position he had just been in. I sighed and balled it back up, I got up and went to throw it away but Snape grabbed my wrist as I was about to throw it into the bin. He unraveled it and his emotions did not betray his face. "I swear I did not draw it." His eyes looked into mine and for an instance, I melted. "Five points... from Slytherin for Draco's tosh drawing." Snape threw it in the trash and I went back to my seat, Draco glared at Snape. "How do you know it was me?" Snape took a seat back at his desk. "No one else has fancy parchment like you." Draco mumbled to himself, Pansy shot me death glares, and Crab and Goyle were clueless as usual.

The rest of the class was very silent and slow but everyone managed to make it out before anything else happened. "Black! Stay behind for a moment. "I groaned internally and reluctantly made my way to his desk. "Yes sir?" He was starting to prepare for his next class. "Have you heard anything from Dumbledore?" I shook my head. "Nor do I expect to. I've heard rumors that Umbridge is monitoring everyone's mail. It wouldn't be safe." He nodded. "You're free to go." I walked out of the class, realizing I had been holding my breath I exhaled. I headed on to my next scheduled class, hoping it wouldn't be as weird as the last and that I also wouldn't be late.

By lunch I was exhausted, everyone was dumping homework on us. Even Peeves was more quiet than usual, must have been because Umbridge signed Filches petition to get rid of him. I wasn't sure why Dumbledore let Peeves be, it could have been that he believed everyone living or dead had a home here, could have even been he just thought Peeves was funny. I missed him and I was worried about him.

Among other things Wednesday was spending a tremendous amount of time with Jackson, I wasn't jealous but I was lonely. It felt like I had no friends again. I decided to sit with Luna and her friends. "Luna, I know we haven't really spoken in the past but I was wondering if we could be friends." She seemed delighted at the idea. "Would you like a copy of the Quibbler?" I smiled and nodded. "I know a lot of people don't believe my father or me but it's at least an interesting read." I flipped threw the pages. "I believe that there is more out there. We have werewolves, vampires, mermaids, and dragons. Unicorns, Pegasus, thestrals, and Phoenixs. There's bound to be more. I mean we even have a half-giant teaching at the school, Goblins are in charge of our gold, and elves clean and keep the castle. I have no doubt you'll grow up and prove these creatures exist." Luna beamed and introduced me to Neville. "It's nice to meet you." He meekly smiled and continued to read some books on herbology. Ron's twin brothers Fred and George were working on some type of red box. Ron was stuffing his face and Hermione looked disgusted. Harry was eating slowly while laughing at Ron.

I shook my head at the group of misfits, somehow they had all seemed relatively perfect. I guess no one is. I looked up towards the professor's table and got glares from Snape. I immediately looked back at the table. "Raylona, when is your birthday?" The group turned their attention to me. "February thirteenth, why?" Luna smiled. "You'll be sixteen?" I nodded. "It's the legal age of consent but if you go to a tavern accompanied by an adult you can legally drink alcohol, isn't knowledge great?" Fred and George winked at me and I smiled. I hadn't really considered drinking or anything like that. I doubt getting drunk would help us pass the exams. Oh, bother.
