I would like to go ahead and apologize for not updating on said Friday. Wattpad was being a meanie, and for like half of the week, it wouldn't let me login to write. The same thing happened on Friday which left me unable to get this up on time. Is anyone else having this problem? Anyways, I hope all of you have an amazing weekend.
I heard a voice, trying to find its owner. Dust still blinded me, but I felt two hands grip close to my shoulders, steadying me in my place.
"Peter? Is that you?" I asked, reaching my hands up to grab onto his arms.
I continued to blink back the dust out of my eyes and the world slowly came into focus. First, I could see a red and blue suit and some floppy brown hair. The face became more detailed and I met a pair of very soft brown eyes.
"Yeah, it's me!"
I was brought to his chest fast and all of my tension went away.
"I can't believe you're in front of me," I mumbled into his suit.
"I thought you had survived! I- thought I would never see you again." I looked up to see Peter's face bright red, and I was reminded of the last few moments we shared together. "N-not that anything I said then is any different than it would be now, uh-"
"I believe you."
Silence persisted for a few seconds before anything more was said.
"Hey, (Y/N)?" Peter asked.
I hummed out a yes, awaiting the rest of his comment.
"Can I, uh." He stuttered around for a bit, mumbling under his breath. "Can I kiss you again?"
My chuckling cut into the silence and I nodded my head. "Yeah, you can kiss me again."
Footsteps sounded behind me and I turned to see Strange walking over with the remaining Guardians of the Galaxy.
"I hate to interrupt anything important happening, but we have a battle to get to. (Y/N) know what I'm talking about, and we're needed now more than anything," Strange said.
"Oh yeah, that battle. Kinda forgot about it for a while. Us being dead did not feel like five years though, must admit."
Many around me shouted in surprise at the fact that I said it'd been five years.
"That felt like five minutes," Peter whispered under his breath.
"I reached out to the Sanctums as soon as I came back as well as some other places like Wakanda, so everyone should be joining the fight. We're the last ones to be grouping up, so we better get going."
Everyone nodded in agreement, and Strange readied a portal, letting the Guardians go first.
"So about that kiss." I turned towards Peter again.
I was taken in close around the waist and our faces met. He was hesitant at first, unlike last time, but the kiss was just as soft as I remember it being.
I knew we both wanted it to be longer, but the world needed to be saved, yet again. Duty liked to call in the worst times.
I grabbed his hand and we both walked towards the portal Strange had left open.
"I love you, Peter."
"I love you, (Y/N)."
We smiled at each other once more, before heading through to face much bigger threats.
Landing on the other side of the portal, Peter and I dropped down onto the ground to find a completely destroyed Avengers Compound. The sky was darkened under many levels of smoke and fire, so the time of day was left unknown.
