Making your way through the crowded streets of New York is a pain in the ass. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy getting out to walk around, but it's rude to shove someone out of the way because you think you have to get somewhere faster. I really just want to shout out, "Hey! I'm walking here," but that would also be rude, and wouldn't get you anywhere.

Looking up towards the sky, which can't really be seen through all the obnoxiously tall buildings, I spotted Spiderman swing his way into the closest alley to my right. I checked my watch to see it was only around 2:30, so he might actually make it on time to something! I would be so proud of him if he did. When was the last time he actually made it on time to something. . .

Somebody bumped into me from behind and I noticed I did, in fact, stop walking. I mumbled a quick apology and moved closer to the side of the walkway. Peter comes out of the alley looking flushed in the cheeks.

"Hey, (Y/N)," he stumbled out.

"Oh hey, Peter. What were you doing back there?" I had to keep up my innocence. He didn't know my secret and I'm going to act like I don't know his.

"Oh, um, i-it was just a shortcut from where I was previously."

"Okay."

"So what were you up to this morning?"

"Not much, I just made some pancakes and decided to take a walk. I was able to get some tiramisu from Ms. Farina, so I know what I'm eating for dinner tonight."

"You are crazy in love with that tiramisu, aren't you? You can never put it down!"

"Hey! Think about it this way, you have a love for Star Wars, while I have a love for tiramisu. I don't judge you every time you pull Star Wars out for our movie nights, so you shouldn't judge me." I stuck out my tongue in his direction.

Before I knew it, we were in front of the coffee joint I chose last night. Heading inside, I ordered a (f/d) and a sandwich to hold over the hunger that seems to have only grown since I left Ms. Farina's. The smell of coffee was strong and there was some light music playing in the background.

We found a booth near the back away from the crowded front and waited for Ned and MJ to get here. It didn't take long for them to come and sit with us in the overstuffed chairs, steaming beverages in hand.

"Hey losers," greeted MJ.

"What's up, guys?" I asked.

"Nothing more than the end of the year workload with upcoming exams. I haven't been able to do anything except homework for weeks now!" Ned exclaimed.

Munching on the sandwich, I listened as my friends continued to chat about the most random things. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have them.

"So, how's that internship going, Peter? Didn't you just go on a trip for it?" MJ asked.

"Yeah, um, I had to go to Germany for a quick assignment to check in on the company over there. Nothing really interesting to say about it." He responded nervously.

Why didn't I pick up on this kind of attitude earlier? It's so obvious he's hiding something.

I looked over to see Ned's eyes gleaming. He must know Peter is Spiderman, or he wouldn't be getting excited about what he said.

"I'm going to put my plates and stuff up. I'll be right back," I said, sliding out of the booth.

Walking to the front where they had a deposit bin, I saw a dude in all black, even the trench coat, walk in. Great way to not look suspicious, dude.

Delaying myself from going back to the booth, I waited to make sure nothing crazy happened. He walked up to the counter like he was going to order, but pulled out a gun instead. The look of shock on the cashier's face was very noticeable and others started to notice what was going on. As some rushed to the exit, I made it back over to my friends to see Peter gone. Go figure.

Most of the people had made it out and the guy was still coaxing the cashier to open the register.

Knowing I couldn't do much because I didn't have my suit, I turned to Ned and MJ. Trying to lighten the mood as we made our way towards the exit, I spoke up, "Alright guys. Who knew we were going to be caught in a robbery? 'Cause I sure didn't."

That didn't work, and the robber took notice. Grabbing my arm, he put me in a tight hold, gun to my head.

"If you don't open the cash register, the girl gets it." He continued trying to persuade the young adult.

Just as she began to open the cash register, Spiderman swung through the open door saying, "Hello, Mr. Robber, don't you think it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood?"

With the distraction of the cringey reference, I was able to kick the robber where the sun doesn't shine and break out of his hold. Walking back to where MJ and Ned were hiding behind the service counter, I ushered them towards the back exit, away from the fighting.

Once they got outside, I turned to go back inside, but MJ stopped me. "What are you doing? Why are you going back in?"

Shit. I'm not in my suit. I can't go back in without a reason, and I can't say the real reason.

"I left my bag in there," I responded quickly, hoping she wouldn't stop me again.

"Hell no. You are not going in there again until the police show up to take the robber away. Spiderman is handling it."

I sighed, knowing that she was ultimately right.

"Hey, where's Peter?" MJ asked.

I guess she didn't see him leave, too focused on the robbery.

"uH," Ned squeaked out.

"He had to take a phone call. Probably something relating to the internship. You know how he is about that. I'm sure he's fine," I tried to cut out Ned's hesitations.

"But, weren't you putting your dishes up when this happened? How would you know where Peter was?" She countered, trying to catch me in a lie.

Ned was looking at me too shocked to even help me out.

"He told me on the way over here that he was waiting for a call and didn't know exactly when it was going to come in. Crazy timing, right?"

She seemed to relax the interrogation mode and we walked out from the alley to the front of the coffee shop. Policemen walked out the front with the robber cuffed. Spiderman, however, was nowhere to be seen.

Peter came running up to us out of breath. "Hey guys, was the robber stopped?"

"Yup! Spiderman came in and saved the day!" Ned added, clearly excited.

"How was that call you had to make, Peter? Good news, I hope?" MJ jumped in.

He looked a little confused at first, but Ned and I looked at him like he was just supposed to go along with it. "OH, um, yeah, the call. Good news, good news."

"Yeah," she said squinting, not fully believing a word we were saying anymore.

"Well I have to grab my bag and get home," I said, hoping to end the conversation there. Luck was in my favor, and it ended with goodbyes.
