It's official: I simp for Dazai, Ranpo, and Chuuya. I have serious problems, but nothing's gonna stop 'em, so I'm rolling with it hahaha
I walked down the old creaky stairs and took a seat next to MJ. Most of our class had gathered around a small TV in the common area and were discussing the attack that had happened earlier this afternoon.
"Who is that guy?" Betty asked.
"He's like Iron-man and Thor rolled into one," Brad commented.
"He's alright; he's no Spider-man," Flash rejected.
"What is it with you and Spider-man?" MJ retorted.
"What? He's just awesome, okay? He protects the neighborhood and, you know, he's inspiring."
Peter joined us from calling Aunt May and I watched carefully for his reaction to what Flash was saying.
"He inspires me to be a better man. . . What's up, dickwad, thought you drowned." Flash winked at Peter upon seeing him walk into the room.
"And that, my friends, is clear signs that he was dropped as a child. Maybe more than once," I concluded. "Oh, and Flash? Stop flirting with my boyfriend, would ya? Don't think I didn't see that."
"I did not just flirt with- ew." His face contoured at the thought, but I thought I saw a hint of red in the dim lighting.
Passing a glance at Peter, there was no hiding the blush that crept on his face.
"Nice one." MJ elbowed me lightly.
Everyone around went quiet as we listened to the news once again.
"Sounds like his name is Mysterio," Brad added again.
MJ began to explain the Italian, but my knowledge of some of the romance languages told me enough. Zoning everyone out left me to my own thoughts yet again.
Why did Mysterio's magic work against the monsters but my own did not? And something seemed to be off about the monster. I knew Fury mentioned there were others like it out there, so at least Mysterio knows how to handle them.
Something seemed off about his character. How in the world did he end up-
"Did you guys see Nova helping Mysterio as well?" Brad asked, snapping me back into the present.
Peter and I eyed each other closely for a minute, before breaking the gaze. I felt another's stare on me and I saw Ned looking at me cautiously.
"Uh, yeah, I saw her," I replied. "Wonder if she's doing something around Europe again like she used to while the Winter Soldier was still on the run."
"Maybe she has family over here," Ned added.
Flash butted in, saying, "I'm just wondering why Spider-man hasn't shown up-"
"Can you just shut up about Spider-man already?" One kid asked.
I burst out laughing at this as well as some other kids, and we ended up parting ways once the news broadcast was over.
"What are you gonna do about the water monster?" Ned asked, clearly worried.
I leaned against the doorframe to Peter and Ned's room, watching the two converse. Smirking, I eyed Fury carefully, before turning my attention back to the two guys walking towards their shared room.
"Nothing," Peter said, before smiling. I've never seen Ned more confused in my life. "It's dead. Besides, that Mysterio guy's all over it. And I want to spend this vacation with (Y/N) anyways without the distractions of playing superhero."
