Chapter 2: A pink child

One month later

The gems and Steven were in the main room in the house with the geodes on the table. It had been one month, and the geodes were due to hatch today.

Amethyst: "When is that 'Echo' guy supposed to come? I'm so boooored." The purple gem complained in an annoying voice.

Garnet: "Sometime today, they left us with these instructions on the tablet he gave us. We should be able able to hold up before they get here." The biggest gem replied.

Steven: "Ooooh, I can't wait! This is gonna be sooo exiting, do you think I should have called Peridot and Lapis here? I bet they would like to see them hatch, what about dad?" The human-gem hybrid said rushed.

Pearl: "Calm down Steven, I'm sure they would love to be here, but we don't have time to get them here."

Right then if on cue, Echo appeared. Except he had a smaller ghost like him hanging by his bottom half. This ghost monster was blue instead of orange and also a third of Echo's size.

Echo: "Angel, I need you to get off of me. I have stuff I need to do." Echo looked at the gems "One second, if you could excuse us please."

Echo suddenly disappeared and reappeared after he said that.

Echo: "You would not believe how long it takes to get rid of that kid." The ghost said annoyed.

Steven: "You were gone for one second"

Echo: "It's called the art; of time travel!"

Steven: "Oohhh, anyways, how've you been doin." Steven said in a cheery mood now that Echo was here.

Echo: "You wouldn't understand."

Pearl: "Ok yes, we've all been having a slow month. But we should get to the point."

Echo: "Yes, where are the geodes?" Echo asked.

Garnet: "Right here, we followed all the instructions perfectly."

Echo: "Good, because the fate of this world lies in these kids' hands. Their tiny, tiny hands."

Amethyst: "Yeah, but when are they gonna hatch?! I wanna see them!"

Echo: "In around the next 30 minutes the pink one will hatch. I don't know, not every timeline is the same."

Steven: "I guess we have a free 30 minutes then... who wants to play video games."

Echo: "Sure, why not... yeah, great way to pass the time. Not to brag or anything but *scoff* I'm very good at video games. Considering I've been playing them for about 70 years."

Steven "Wow, what year is it in your universe?!"

Echo: "It's currently the year 2069 in universe 1637-6969-420. My universe."

Amethyst: "Wow, how old are you, you definitely aren't organic if you've lived more than 100 years!"

Echo: "I am 1537 years old, it's not that much compared to how long I can live."

Garnet: "Well how old can you get?"

Echo: "Well ghost monsters can live up to 100000 years old, so compared to other ghost monsters, I'm pretty young. And yes Amethyst I am technically organic, I need food and water, but I can't be killed by any physical weapons."

Steven: "Wow, so about those video games."

Echo: "Yes let's do that...... prepare to get crushed." Echo says as he pulls out a 'Nintendo switch'.  (Not my property, plz don't sue me!!!)"Smash bros anyone?"
