"Violet!" A million things went through my head at once and I tried to focus on the most important. Violet is hurt, and if she falls asleep, she could go into shock from losing blood. I wish I could tell if she lost control of her senses yet, but she isn't answering me.
We found the stupid spider that bit Saige so hopefully she will be alright, but now we more problems. I tried to keep calm, but I couldn't, "Violet! Come on! Wake up! NOW!" My hands shook, and I heard Zahra tell me to make sure the fabric was on her wound, and it should stop. I didn't understand how that could be true because she was bleeding through the fabric! Zahra's hands were covered in blood, from both Saige and Violet.
Zahra moved quicker than I ever thought was possible in a child. Her adrenaline must have kicked in. If she was panicking, she sure didn't look like it because she looked like a professional doctor.
After a few minutes everybody started to calm down. Zahra sat against a log and sighed. Tears went down her face, "I can't do anything else." I realized they weren't tears, but sweat. Sam sat next to Saige and waited for her to come to. I did the same for Violet, but she didn't look any better in fact she was paler. Zahra limped over to me, "I did all I could, I'm sorry."
I didn't answer her as we sat in silence for a long time. I stared at the sky that was mostly covered by tree tops, but if I looked carefully, I could see the clouds. I stayed aware of my surroundings as I had one hand on my bow. I gazed over to Zahra who had her sword in hand ready to strike anything that nears her.
Zahra got up and got our attention, "They should be awake by now." She grabbed Violet's wrist and laid two fingers on the soft part of it and waited for a few seconds. She frowned and went over to Saige and did the same thing. Her expression turned grim, "I checked for a pulse, and it's not very good. My antidote didn't work." Sam looked at Saige one last time, "I have an idea! My parents used to tell us about a mysterious plant. It is capable of many things maybe it could even heal Violet and Saige!" Zahra fiddled with her sword, "I know what you're talking about, Samuel, but I also know that it's incredibly hard to find." I glanced at Violet than over to Saige, "We have to find it. It's the only way to save them." I got up and started to pack up, "How about this, I will look for the plant, Zahra take Violet and Saige back to the plane, while Sam talks to Lila and Lily." Zahra and Sam exchanged looks, and Sam noted, "I know more about the plant than anyone. Xavier, how about you talk to Lila and Lily, and I will find the plant?" He looked at Saige and mumbled, "She knows more about it than me."
I didn't know how to respond, "Okay, you find the plant. Zahra, how do you feel about the plan?" She looked over to me than over to Violet and Saige, "Samuel, Xavier, what am I supposed to do. I already did all I could they are going to die either way." What she said puzzled me, "What do you mean either way?" She sighed and felt for Violets pulse, "Whether I stay in the plane with them or I go with one of you they are going to die. There is nothing I can do." I nodded as I comprehended what she said, "Okay you're right, but we just need you to stay with them, please." Zahra nodded nervously, "I need a little help to get them to the plane, though." She bent down and fixed the gauze on her leg. The gauze was stained with blood and was in shreds. I walked over to Sam who was helping Saige get up. She was awake, but not fully with it. Zahra went to help them, but Sam told her to help with Violet. I walked over to Violet and desperately tried to wake her up. Zahra limped over to me and Violet and sighed, "Xavier, she's not going to wake up right now." I didn't want to believe her. I still had hope for her. We just have to find the special healing plant before she dies. I probably could have taken Violet back to the plane without Zahra's help, but she insisted on it.
She limped the whole way back to the plane. I kept one hand on my bow and stayed alert. Zahra had a death grip on the hilt of her sword. The plane wasn't far away thankfully. Sam laid Saige on the couch and I had Zahra take Violet to her dorm. Zahra looked nervous as she still had a death grip on her sword. Sam took the spare key from the cupboard and handed it to me. He turned and face Zahra, "When we leave lock all the doors, and don't let anyone in! Not even us we both have keys. So whatever you do, do not open the door for any reason!" She gripped the hilt of her sword tighter, "Okay." She smiled nervously as we made our way towards the door.
Sam glanced back at the plane, "Okay, Xavier, don't lose your key! Zahra will not open the door for us." I nodded and looked at the woods, "Okay we meet back here tomorrow morning at 9:00, and if one of us don't show we search. Deal?" Sam nodded, "Deal, that gives us the rest of today to get back here. I just hope it's not too late." I nodded, and we went our separate ways.
