Have you ever felt like you were useless no matter what you do nothing is going to make a difference. Here I sit watching two people die and I have already done all I could to save them, but it didn't make a difference. All I can do is watch, and if they wake up make their last day as comfortable as possible. I highly doubt Samuel is going to find the Smithonian Hero Plant. The plant is incredibly rare, and nobody found it again after Mr. Hero picked them and it's probably going to stay that way.
I hate to say it, but Violet and Saige are going to die and there is nothing we can do about it. I wish I could do something, but no matter how much I say that it isn't going to change anything!
Violet laid very still, and my heart started beating as I walked over to her. I grabbed her pale hand and felt for her pulse. I sighed in relief it's there, faint, but there.
Saige was awake, but wasn't alert. She was very disoriented and confused. If I tried to talk to her, she would just stare off into space. Her breathing was shallow, and I knew neither of them had much time.
I paced the room until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I laid a blanket on the floor and laid down. It felt just like I was camping with my family except the sand was absent. I remember Tabia digging in the sand next to me, and I would tell her to go to bed so I could sleep. Man, do I regret doing that now.
I dreamt of the night I put Tabia in that car and told the driver to go. I remembered the bombs coming at me. They were in slow motion, and the harder I tried to run I couldn't I just stood there with Tabia in my arms. When the bomb neared us, the slow motion ceased, and I took off running. I felt the heat hit my legs, and I woke up with a jolt!
My leg burned, and I replaced the gauze again. I rubbed my eyes and got up. Saige slept almost to peacefully, and I got a thermometer to check her temperature. I opened her mouth and slid the thermometer under her tongue. It only took a few seconds till I heard a beep. I gently pulled it out of her mouth and as I suspected she has an even higher fever due to the bite.
Her wound looked worse and is starting to infect the rest of her body. Both of her arms were now red, pussy and swollen as if it were broken. Her fingers were starting to shrivel and swell up. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed an ice pack out of the fridge and wrapped a towel around it. Saige was soaked in sweat as I placed the ice pack over the main wound.
I waited for about an hour and took off the ice pack, but it didn't make a difference her wounds just got worse. I put the ice pack in the sink to be washed because the underside of it was covered in blood.
I got a book off the bookshelf and started reading as I waited for Samuel and Xavier to come back.
