Mr. Lukas gave me my own dorm, because of all the complaints last year. Nobody wants to be my roommate, and that's okay with me... I guess. I may have or may not have bullied every single new kid.

I grabbed my photo album from under my bed and began paging through it. Tears came to my eyes as I looked at our last family picture a few years back. With my parents in the military I don't see them much, and they don't have time for a family picture when they visit me and my brother twice a year. They visit on Christmas and my birthday. Most kids on their birthdays they are always excited about the gifts more than anything else. For me I couldn't care less about the paper wrapped boxes or the useless trinkets inside. I only care about being with my family on my birthday.

It gets lonely being alone in a dorm, and I don't like bullying people but it always feels like they are at my throat and I go off on them, and it's not like I'm going to get in trouble. My parents are half way around the country, and they only write once every few months. Basically when they have time for me and Sam.

I am very aware that Samuel is taking it better than me, and that's why I don't like talking to him about it.

The ten minute bell rang, and I closed the photo album and placed it gently under my bed. I wiped away the tears off my face and grabbed my book bag.

Me and Sam always meet in the hallway outside our dorms. I was usually late, but we made an agreement that if one of us wasn't out by the five minute bell, we would go check on each other than go to class. Sam had to do that a few times for me when I was to tired or sick to go to class.

We can have up to three absences in one semester then we have to take exams. I usually have to take them because I like to miss days randomly for dumb reasons. I pass all my classes with straight A's no matter what so I don't worry about it. Samuel passes very easily to, but he takes it a little more seriously than I do.

I was just about to leave when I seen my mirror out of the corner of my eye. I dropped my bags and checked that I fulfilled the dress code. My short, brown hair barely touched my shoulders as my side bangs swept to one side. My pink t-shirt went well with my khaki skirt (Girls have to wear khaki skirts along with their special t-shirts, and the boys wear khaki pants along with their special t-shirts). We can wear pants when all our classes are over.

The five minute bell rang for class, "Great." I mumbled as I picked up my stuff and met up with Samuel who was on his way to check on me.

He had his orange t-shirt with a brain embroidered on the front of it on (I have the same one except mine is pink). His hair was neatly gelled like usual. I remember father used to always tell him to look his best for any occasion, mother told me the same thing.

He narrowed his eyes, "Saige, a bit late don't you think?"

I smiled, "Sorry, I had to make sure I was up to date with the dress code, and re apply my makeup and nail polish."

He frowned, "Didn't you just put the nail polish on yesterday? You know what, never mind come one we don't want to be late."

I nodded and followed him to the elevator, "How long do we have?"

Sam looked at his watch and sighed, "Two minutes... It looks like we're going to be late again."

I didn't care, but he did so I just acted like it bothered me. Everyone in our class knows I'm the reason he's always late so I don't get what the big deal is. Looking better than all the other girls is quite easy, but I like to blow them out of the water. Even if they tried to look like me they would fail. If our school had a beauty pageant I would knock the judges dead with my beauty.

The ride in the elevator always takes about five minutes, and the school claims that they don't have enough money to repair it. Even though it breaks down every so often causing the kids inside it to be late or miss their classes because the school has some very smart kids were not excused. One kid rewired the elevator to break down, so they didn't have to go to class. Then at three o'clock when school got out they fixed it. They were excused until Mr. Lukas went through the security footage, and they were busted. Now he doesn't even take a chance of that.

Sam was very quiet during the ride as always. I sat in the corner and waited for the elevator to stop, but it was taking a lot longer than it usually did. The bell rang for school to start. We've been in the elevator for ten minutes now, and it didn't feel like it was moving.

I got up and whispered, "I think it broke down, Sam."

He sighed and bowed his head, "Yup, we should have taken the stairs."

I walked to the metal doors and looked through the little crack, "Sam, were in between floors."

He peeked through the metal doors so he could see for himself. He looked up at the hidden security camera, "Saige, look." He pointed towards the camera.

I frowned, "Seriously! It's turned off!"

Sam put his finger over his lips, "Were in a tiny area..."

I cut him off in frustration, "Yes, I don't need to be reminded. How are we going to get out if nobody knows we're in here?"

Sam pulled his phone out of his pocket, "We don't have reception for our cellular devices, either. I would say rewire the elevator, but the new security alarm will go off."

I went into the corner of the elevator and quietly slipped down the wall till I was in a sitting position. Sam came and sat next to me he still had his phone in his hand. He unlocked it and started a tic-tac-toe game with me.

The game was cut short when Mr. Lukas's voice came through the P.A. System, "Violet Monroe, Xavier Creed, Zahra Zesiro, Samuel and Saige Olson please report to the school office immediately. Violet..." He repeated the names several times.

Mr. Hoffman's voice replaced Mr. Lukas's, "Come as soon as possible, thank you."

Me and Sam exchanged looks.
