Samuel

Memories kept flashing through my head of my sister and I. Her voice echoed through my head about a million times a second. I've been so caught up in my thoughts that I hadn't realized that it was already night. I hadn't eaten anything at all, but I guess I'm not hungry either. My conscience told me to call mother and father, but I failed them and I don't know what to say. I felt anger towards Violet even though deep down inside I knew it wasn't her fault, and I would have done the same thing Xavier did.

The rest of the lights were out on the plane, and everybody was fast asleep from the long day. If they were still awake, they didn't make a noise. I walked quietly to my dorm and Saiges voice still echoed through my head. I desperately wanted it to stop just for a little while. I missed her already so much. I laid in bed wide awake, and unable to drift to sleep.

Hours later I still laid awake, but allowed my eyes to close. In a matter of minutes I was asleep.

I dreamt of my sister. She had her brown hair in a bun, and her voice was as gentle as a lamb, "Samuel." She just repeated my name over and over again. She smiled warmly, and I woke up.

Someone was knocking on my door, "Sam, it's time to go!" Xavier yelled. I heard his footsteps growing faint as he walked away. I got up and ready to go.

I heard Zahra yell from the kitchen, "BREAKFAST IS SERVED!" I walked to the kitchen and tried to ignore the empty chair that's pushed in under the big table. I took my seat and Violet served me a serving of pancakes. She looked much better. The color in her face has returned to normal, and it didn't look like she was in much pain. The Hero plant has that fast effect on people. Violet glanced over to me and frowned, "Sam, I'm so sorry." I wanted to hate her, but she makes it so hard. I replied with a simple nod. Xavier walked out of his dorm, "Pack a lot of water, and anything that can keep us hydrated." Violet and Zahra took their seats and started their pancakes. Violet finished chewing and replied, "Smithonian Desert, right?" Xavier nodded, "Yes, which is why we need to make sure we all are hydrated." This didn't interest me at all, "I'm not going. I will stay here and watch the plane." Everyone attention turned to me and Zahra frowned, "Samuel, are you sure?" I wasn't sure, but that's what I told her, "Yeah, I'm sure." She nodded, "Okay then, if that's what you want." She finished her last bite of pancake, got up and washed her plate, "I will be waiting in the living room." I decided to to get my mind off of Saige, and to track down her sister like I promised, and that could take a long time perhaps longer than I have.

Not long after Zahra left Xavier and Violet had finished. I helped myself to another serving so I could eat alone for a little bit. I heard them talking from the kitchen, but their voices were all mufflers together. I think they yelled by to me, and the plane's door slammed shut leaving me alone in an empty plane with my memories. I tried to recall all the things Zahra told me about her sister and pieces it together and began my search.
