*Cole's POV*
I don't think in my entire life that I'd gone this long without talking to Aiyla. It wasn't because I hated her or didn't like her anymore. Every time I looked at her, I was reminded that she was moving across the ocean.
I thought back to when she would vent to me about staying here vs. Oxford, and I knew what it meant. I just kept pushing the thought to the back of my head.
Even though I was upset, I missed her, and I couldn't take it any longer.
"Jaidyn." I walked over to her desk.
She looked up. "Yeah?"
"Did you get the dress that Aiyla wanted?" I asked her in a hushed tone
"I did." she confirmed. "It's getting dropped off at your house at noon and I Venmo'd you the difference back."
I was surprising Aiyla with a super fancy dinner tonight along with the dress that she'd been eyeing for months.
"Good." I sighed in relief. "I'm gonna ditch after lunch to get everything set up. Do you think she's going to love it or be upset?"
There was a catch to this date night, everything would be waiting for her after school and she just had to meet me at the restaurant by seven.
"She's going to love it." Jaidyn assured me. "She needs this and you guys really need to sit down and talk."
I nodded my head. "Do you think she's going to stay over there forever?"
I wonder how she really felt about the fact that both Jaidyn (her best friend) and II (her boyfriend) were going to USC.
"That girl has an amazing poker face, so I don't really know. I just know that her grandfather is probably the biggest gaslighter in the world." she commented.
Tell me about it.
Then the bell rang
"Thanks Jai." I took my seat across the classroom and class began.
I ditched school after lunch and went to get last-minute things like flowers, a card, and Dove chocolates that she loved. My parents were probably going to be pissed that I was ditching school, but it was for a good cause.
I just wanted to make her so happy that she couldn't see herself with anyone else.
I got ready at my dad's office and then chilled in there to kill time.
"This whole thing is really sweet of you Cole." my dad looked up from his spreadsheets.
"Yeah, I might as well enjoy her while I can." I sighed.
He leaned back in his chair. "You know, I was eighteen once and in a similar position. It was with a woman that you know, and we didn't get it together until we had your sister. Now, I'm not saying have an accident baby at twenty-two but things do get better with time."
That was somewhat comforting, but Aiyla was a goddamn princess of a country.
"She's the heir to a throne though." I reminded him.
"I know, bud. I promise you to just give it some time." my dad looked at his watch. "You should be heading over there and II should be getting home."
My dad walked over to me and began to fix my tie.
"Are you guys using protection?" he asked me.
Oh god.
"I don't want to talk about this with you, but no." I replied to give him a scare.
